It’s here! And another look at Sulky Sticky Fabri Solvy (what a mouthful!)

Phew.  Yesterday was such a busy day as I sent out the February issue of the Bustle & Sew Magazine to all my lovely subscribers.  If that’s you and by some chance you haven’t received yours yet (sometimes they do go astray or end up in junk folders), then please do contact me and I’ll be happy to send you another link to download your copy.  This month’s projects are, I think, a little foretaste of spring – just as the weather turns colder here in England, and parts of the US are all snowed in! …..

This month’s issue uses a product I blogged about a little while ago  ….

Sulky Sticky Fabri Solvy – a very long name indeed!  I used it for two projects in the February Magazine, the Bustle & Sew Needlebook and Love Letters Blocks as I simply haven’t found a better way to transfer a pattern to felt.  It comes in printable pre-cut sheets which gave me another idea….

For some time Rosie has been wanting me to stitch her wedding “logo” – a lovely floral hoop painted by my friend Jacqui of Flapdoodledesigns.

So pretty!  But I’d been putting it off – a bit daunted by all the shading in the roses and the thought of having to keep referring to the coloured picture while stitching a black and white outline.  But, having discovered this new wonder-product, I had a lightbulb moment – why shouldn’t I print the hoop in colour onto the Fabri Solvy?  Then I’d have the design right there to work with – shading and all!  So that’s what I did …..

And I must say, I was rather pleased with the results.  I used four shades of pink in the roses, two for the leaves and two in the scrolls.  Stitching over the Fabri Solvy was so easy – I did notice a slight sticky residue building on my needle from time to time, but it was easily removed with a quick wipe and well worth putting up with.  Here’s the final result together with another hoop I stitched for her birthday this week …..

She was rather pleased and hung them straight on her wall!

And finally …. reading back through this post I do seem to have been super-enthusiastic about Sulky Super Fabri Solvy and I feel I should tell you that I have not received any free samples, been sponsored, or received any reward whatsoever for my enthusiasm.  I have simply fallen in love with this product!   Rosie & I are planning to use it for another idea we have – so watch out for some exciting news coming very soon indeed!

Thanks so much, I was so pleased and relieved Rosie liked them too (she’s a bit of a perfectionist!)

Lovely projects Helen!
Just wanted to say congrats on a lovely February issue! I stitched the snowdrops yesterday: a pleasure to stitch Spring while the snow fell outside!

That’s just how I felt Jenn, though for us here in Devon it was gales and driving rain. Same sort of feeling though! xx
