Christmas Mouse Giveaway!

Although the holidays are still a little way off, after finishing the November issue of the Bustle & Sew Magazine containing three new Christmas projects, I’m beginning to feel rather festive.  Earlier this month we launched our new Christmas Pin Cushion Mice kits (currently still available in store, but selling fast!) and I made two sample mice using the materials included in the kits.  But … there is a limit to how many softies can live on the shelf in my new workroom, and so I thought it would be nice to hold a giveaway for these two little sample mice……

Christmas Mouse Giveaway

For your chance to win the BLUE mouse please leave a comment below telling us, just for fun, what is your very-most-favourite part of the Christmas festivities.  If you’d like to enter the giveaway for the WHITE mouse then please do pop over to our Facebook page (it’s fine to enter both).

The giveaway will close on Sunday 1 November and the winner will be chosen by random selection.  I am happy to post the little mice anywhere in the world.  Good luck everyone!!

Now this may sound weird, but I actually love wrapping the presents in pretty paper. And now there are young ones again in the family (grandchildren) making up the Christmas stockings.

Hi Helen, I have just received my two mice kits in the post this morning. All the way from your place in the UK to mine in New Zealand in 8 days, what wonderful service.
My favourite part of Christmas is shopping/making gifts for family and friends. I’m one of those people that shop and make all year picking just the right things for a certain person. Then of course seeing their face when they open their gift. I am lucky that the ones I make gifts for always appreciate the time spent (sometimes it is a lot of hours as you well know).
I am looking forward to making my very own mice – Thank you x

I love fetching the tree with our children, we go to a local farm where we have pre-chosen our tree earlier in the year (you can even have a small tree and watch it grow every year), the farmer then cuts it down and bags it, after we try to go and see a Christmas film altogether, really any part of Christmas is fantastic to me

The most special time of christmas for me is christmas eve. When my family come home from work or running errands, we all get together to sit down for a meal. We then all have a bath or shower( so that we are nice and clean for Father Christmas!) and put on our new pyjamas. We are allowed to pick one present from under the tree to open, and then we snuggle into the settee to watch some tv, the christmas lights twinkling and enjoying this moment before the big day itself!

Remembering that is is our Saviors birthday that we are celebrating, the Christmas play we do at church, baking cookies, decorating the tree, the music, the movies, I really cherish it all. I do especially love getting the hubby and kids in the car to get hot cocoa and go look at lights. Just the 4 of us soaking it all in.

This Christmas will be the first in 17 years without my beloved black cat named Mouse. She was a typical cat: warm and loving one second and then hissy-mad the next. I loved her dearly. My house will be filled with my mouse-themed Christmas decorations–after naming her Mouse I proceeded to somewhat accidentally collect all sorts of decorations with mice on them. I’d love to adopt one of these mice in her beloved memory–to represent the furry little monster absent from the room but still present in my heart.

When I was younger, I would have said decorating the tree, wrapping the gifts….now that I am much older, I can honestly say that anticipation and preparation for the biggest Birthday Celebration of the year. Christmas dinner with family and friends around the table, the smiles, conversation, laughter filling the house, and love that seems to be more abundant than any other time of the year….that is what makes the season bright. And, since it is just around the corner….Happy Christmas, everyone!

My most favorite part is Christmas eve when my three children and my husband and I exchange our homemade gifts. When my son was 8 years old he made me a disguise kit (mustache, glasses, etc) out of paper. Last year when he was 21 he made me a handcarved wood box. It has been thrilling to see everyone’s age appropriate crafting skills! It is the only gifts we open on Christmas eve and everyone looks forward to it.

I have 2 very favorite parts of Christmas festivities. The first one, was deciding which country our family would celebrate Christmas from. We would choose a country on Thansgiving and then for the next several weeks, we would research how that country celebrated Christmas, the food and all, and we would make crafts from that country and then have Christmas dinner from that country. It was so much fun when my kids were young and they learned much more about the world than they ever did in school. My next favorite part is making gingerbread houses. It began when my son was in cub scouts and I was a den mother. I had a group of boys come over and we made gingerbread houses out of graham crackers. The kids enjoyed it so much that I began having Gingerbread house parties every year and my kids would invite all their friends over. I would bake each house from scratch and then the kids would decorate them with royal icing and all kinds of candy. We would then have pizza while all the ice was setting and then the parents would come and pick up their kids. This was so much fun for kids of all ages and gave the parents a Saturday afternoon to do some shopping or just get a break from the kids before Christmas. After my kids were grown, I still continued to make one large gingerbread house every year and each year it gets bigger and better! I even began adding lights which would shine through the melted cinnamon candy windows and look like stained glass. I look forward to this years Gingerbread house and your adorable mouse would be a perfect addition to my Christmas scene.

I sometimes dread decorating my home because like my mom and sister I over-do it lol.
Truth is once I start opening my boxes filled with decorations the memories engulf me…stuff from my mom, my aunt, dear friends, relatives and my childhood.
Best part is when other’s identify certain things and start relating and more memories are created.
Of course having family around during the holiday season means everything especially that we have moved away in different areas of the country

Snow on the ground (for one day only !LOL), the smells and sounds of Christmas, and most of all family being together, unfortunately the magic of Christmas past will never be like it was as the Grandparents/aunts/uncles have all passed. But each new Christmas is one to remember.

Christmas! A glass of sherry, tinsel and glitter, twinkling lights and chocolate, and listening to carols on the radio 🙂

The joy of wrapping my doggies toys and treats in lots of wrapping paper and watching the fun as the presents are searched until the delicious smell of squeaky toys and biscuits says “Yes! Father Christmas has been – I told you I’d been a good dog all year, mum!!!” Then the wonderful excitement as the paper is ripped off and waggy tails say how happy they are with their presents!

Thank you so much for the chance to win a little mouse 🙂

My favourite bit of Christmas is taking my sons, now 16 & 5, to choose the tree at the local tree farm. There’s always lots of excitement, lots of walking, looking at trees from all angles, hustling for a bigger tree, and then guarding the perfect one until the farmer comes to cut it for us. Then when we have it home decorating it to the sounds of Nat King Cole and Dean Martin singing Christmas songs, it was my parents favourite CD, it keeps their memory close, and the boys and I all sing along while weighing the tree down with lots of homemade decorations.

Oh goodness, picking a favorite is hard, but I have to say the music. I don’t listen to Christmas music before Thanksgiving, so I look forward to digging out my collection of Christmas CDs when we get back from Thanksgiving at my parents’ house with all my extended family (Josh Groban’s Noel is one of my absolute favorites). Last year I discovered Spotify and created my very own Christmas playlist with a ton of old and new favorites, so I look forward to putting that in rotation as well. Tying in to this, we sing Advent hymns at church, and I really love the Christmas Eve service when our choir (and the children’s choir, in which my daughter sings) sing the beautiful Christmas hymns I’ve been waiting for.
