Thought for the day

Thank you so much to everyone who left birthday wishes for Master Benjamin earlier this week. ย I had a lot of fun looking at all my pictures of Ben through the years which reminded me what a gentle, loving and faithful dog he is. ย He adores his little sister Daisy, though she teases him unmercifully, and so I added a quote I found online to this photo of one of their early trips to the beach together ….

Hope you approve!

Aah Daisy was so cute when she was small. Funny that Ben is called ‘Benjamin’ even though he is the older dog ๐Ÿ™‚ Well strictly he is the youngest (and only) male… so that justifies his name ๐Ÿ™‚

Hehe, I have never said this, but the name Benjamin always makes me think of canned tomato soup.

Don’t worry, it is for a good reason. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
I worked at a primary school for several years and generally if a student is having a birthday, the parents are allowed to bring treats to the childs class the last 15 minutes of the day to celebrate. Normally parents bring cookies or cupcakes and punch (fake fruit juice). Anyhow, one year, one of the quieter, more well behaved little men (enter Benjamin, one of the quitter kids in the class) was having a birthday. His parents brought, at Benjamins request, his favorite after-school snack to share with his classmates, canned tomato soup and goldfish (really salty and cheese flavored) crackers with apple juice! His dad heated the soup up (brought to school already warm) and spooned it into paper cups while Benjamins mom carried a tray of (full) cups (juice and soup) that he could serve to his classmates. Two of his classmates (the ones with the “worst” record), upset that no sweets were forthcoming, even expressed their displeasure to him vocally, and were sent to the office for the remaining 15 minutes of the school day. One serving of those two servings even required cleanup (knocked over on the desk) by myself and the teacher from the tantrum. Once all of his classmates were eating their soup, Benjamin (SMILING AND PROUD AS A PEACOCK) promptly served cups to myself and the teacher! We were not expecting this, nor the soup appearing for his birthday either. Canned tomato soup (or goldfish crackers) is not a favorite of mine, but I WAS NOT going to hurt the little mans feelings over something so flippy as a cup of soup, no matter how icky I think it is so I thanked him sincerely and ate it anyway while he happily ate his snack. That is why the name Benjamin reminds me of canned tomato soup. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks so much for explaining, I would have puzzled over your comment for ages! What a lovely story too, I’m so pleased you ate his soup ๐Ÿ™‚ xx

Me too, no reason to hurt a kids feelings over soup. Pick your fights, schoolwork or library books were more important than too much salt. I am sure you understand that, you’re a mom. ๐Ÿ™‚ In one way I was glad to see the soup, it at least has more nutritional value (except for all the salt) than cookies or candy. Oh, and above, I did not mean to say quitter, it was supposed to be quieter… I hate it when my paws get in the way when I type. ๐Ÿ™‚
