DIY Embroidery Kits

Here at Bustle & Sew February has definitely been the month of the kit.  The house has been full of the rustle of tissue paper, boxes are stacked in teetering piles in odd places and Ben has been spotted with large amounts of fuzzy stuffing adhering to his tail on more than one occasion!  Our softie kits have been amazingly successful – indeed we’ve sold out several times over – thank you so much to all our lovely customers.  The latest addition to the softie range is our Baby Elephant Kit which contains everything you need to make your very own baby elephant from soft felted vintage blanket ….

You’ll find full details of the elephants as well as all our other softie kits we currently have in stock (more French Hen supplies coming soon) over on our Kits page.  But now we’re very excited to launch our new range of DIY Embroidery kits ……

I haven’t seen anything quite like these online before.  Everything you need to complete your project is supplied EXCEPT the background fabric.  The kits contain a 7” Elbessee hoop, a skein of Anchor floss, needle, instructions and a sheet of Sulky Sticky Fabri Solvy printed with the design chosen design.

All the stitcher needs to supply is the background fabric of their choice – so you can stitch your design onto almost anything you like whether that’s florals, geometrics, stripes or even a fabric that’s special to you, such as an outgrown child’s dress perhaps?  When you’ve finished, just peel off the sticky backing on the printed design in your kit and press it into place on your fabric.  Stitch, then rinse the Fabri Solvy away leaving you with your finished embroidery ready to display in the hoop.

If you’re a beginner and don’t know much about the supplies you need to create your own hoop, or if the thought of transferring your pattern from paper to fabric makes you nervous, then don’t worry there’s nothing difficult at all and everything you need EXCEPT your choice of background fabric is in the box.  We’ve even included links to videos to show you how to work the stitches.  Rosie has put together six fun, modern designs that we hope will  appeal to the young (and young at heart) stitcher, featuring as they do nice typography and inspiring positive quotes.

I do hope you like them and if you’d like to learn more  at the moment they’re listed in my Etsy shop as this website can’t cope (yet, but coming soon) with varying postage costs and choice of designs.  Please do pop over and take a look!
