Farewell February (I just can’t wait!) and a Free pattern for you

I do usually try only to share the good stuff here on my blog – so much more interesting than the not-so-wonderful times that we all experience, but today I’m making an exception as I really cannot wait to say farewell to February.  It’s fair to say that it hasn’t been a great month here at Bustle & Sew HQ.  Nothing serious, just a series of grey and gloomy (sometimes cold, sometimes not) days punctuated by bouts of illness.  No sooner was I on the road to recovery from the horrible gastric bug I caught at the beginning of the month than I was laid low again by a cold – that turned rogue and sent me back to bed for another week – probably because my immune system was already low after my first illness.  Rosie has also been poorly, Freddie has been teething and I think Dan is probably the only one who’s managed to escape!

It’s at times like this I’m so glad I have such a passion for stitching (rather than extreme outdoor sports for example) since, as soon as I began to feel a little better, I was able to comfortably settle myself on the sofa with hot drinks, bottles of medicine and boxes of tissues and console myself with some embroidery.  I’ve also been cheered by the March Magazine with its sunshiny yellow cover ….

How happy is that?!  And there’s lots more spring cheer between its covers, guaranteed to brighten up even the gloomiest days that remain this month ….

This month Rosie’s recipes concentrate on some old family favourites using eggs as their main ingredients (my mum’s egg custard tarts were to die for!)  and so I thought now might be a really good time to dust down another old favourite – this time one of my earlier patterns …..

I’ve always really loved this design – and lovely soft boiled eggs are one of the first foods I turn to when I’m feeling on the mend after being ill.  It’s a combination of machine applique and some simple hand embroidery.  If you’d like to make your own, then please just CLICK HERE to download the free pattern as an easy to use pdf file.
