Keeping Busy and a new pattern collection

I may have been a little quiet here on the blog lately, but I have been keeping very busy!  As well as being a very proud new grandma(!) I’ve been spending lots of time cosied up on the sofa indulging my love of hand embroidery.  I have the embroidery part of two projects finished for next month’s magazine and they’re pinned to the board in my workroom to keep them out of harm’s way until I get around to assembling them …blog01

(apologies for the poor quality of the photos – it has been so dark here all day, and has hardly stopped raining once!).  The first project – at the top of the board is the promised design for cat lovers.  I’ve been enjoying the new BBC tv series Dickensian and so I chose a quote from the great man “What greater gift than the love of a cat?” to incorporate into my banner. That’s why the Carpe Diem Banner is hanging there too – I need to remind myself of the best way to put everything together!

Beneath are two parts of a single project – a dream catcher.  I’ve seen lots of these around, but never attempted one myself, being much more comfortable with embroidery than weaving!  But then I thought, why couldn’t there be an embroidered dream catcher? And now there is!  There are little metallic beads on the main design as well as a floral element.  This will be mounted in a hoop with the four satin stitched feathers attached at the bottom on nice cord or ribbon.  Maybe a few beads too?  I’m not quite sure yet.

I’m fairly confident now my idea is going to work, but I couldn’t tell without working the embroidery first!  My final successfully completed project this week is our new 2016 Spring Pattern Collection

Spring2016merged

Featuring 12 of my favourite designs for spring stitching.  I loved putting this collection together, such an antedote to the persistent grey gloomy days we’ve been experiencing here in Somerset.  I’ve listed it in the Bustle & Sew store at a special introductory price of $12.50 (it will usually be $25), so please just CLICK HERE if you’d like to find out more.

PS it’s also available in paperback form from Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com

Thanks Linda – indeed it will! I am so fed up of wet muddy walks and continuous washing of dog towels! Never mind, we’re past the shortest day now so spring is not too far around the corner. xx

We’ve been enjoying the Dickensian series too. Love the embroideries, love the way you have displayed them as well, might just pinch that idea with a few pieces of my own I have found.

There’s been a lot of criticism of it I know, but like you I think it’s great to imagine the characters’ other lives. xx
