Two new projects finished at last!

If you follow Bustle & Sew on Instagram you may have spotted my latest image …

Yes, those are my paws – I’m snuggled comfortably on the conservatory sofa (wearing my new Boden PJ trousers – bliss!) doing a little bit of stitching.  And the stitching was … adding a sprinkling of silver stars to my “Believe in the Magic Hoop.”  This project has had an eventful history, having travelled with me to Majorca on holiday, blown away and retrieved floating face-down in the pool, before being brought home to finish.  And here it is …

I didn’t quite manage to remove the red ink stain around the large berries and I’m wondering if something in the water in the pool affected it.  But other than that I’m pleased with how it has turned out.  I really enjoyed stitching the berries ….

They are just two shades of red, with some very dark brown where the shadows in the clusters are deepest.

and the little deer is a scrap of vintage German quilt fabric.  The pattern will be in the November issue of the Bustle & Sew Magazine, along with a lovely simple nursery project ….

I wonder whose nursery this is destined for!?! No prizes for guessing – as you know I’m a super-excited grandma-in-waiting!  I’m off to Rosie and Dan’s this weekend to help with decorating the nursery so I’d better stop typing now and go and hunt out my painting brushes and wallpaper scissors!

I love your new ‘Believe In Magic’ stitchery, and at first sight I thought the berries were perhaps beads! They look so realistic! Lovely!

Thanks so much Linda – I must admit I did heave a sigh of relief when it was finished after all its adventures! I LOVED stitching the berries though, reminded me how much I enjoy shading with threads, perhaps it’s time to think about some more furry animal embroideries? xx

Your shading is absolutely beautiful…How about combining berries AND furry creatures?!

Love-love-love everything about the deer! The berries are stunning too and damage camouflaged very well. Perfectly perfect! In US pools, chlorine is poured into them for sanitation purposes. (Chlorine is like bleach.)

I know you’ll have fun assisting with the nursery!

Thanks Valerie – yes they’re lovely, I feel very spoiled when wearing them. And there’s nothing like brightly coloured toes to cheer up grey days I think! xx
