This little leaping rabbit is worked from a vintage illustration. I made two versions as an exercise to demonstrate two completely different treatments of the same basic outline (the second is a cross stitch version also in-store).
This is the first version and I’ve tried to make him as lifelike and true to the original as possible. He is stitched onto linen, then I’ve frayed the edges and appliqued my embroidery onto a cushion cover made from vintage ticking. He’d also look nice simply displayed in a hoop
for Easter though I think.
If you haven’t tried your hand at stitching fur before, then please don’t be put off, it’s not nearly as hard as you might think and I’ve included lots of photographs to help you along.
Cushion is 16” x 12” and the rabbit embroidery is 6″ x 5″ including the text. DMC floss colours are specified.
