Restoring the calm .. with knitting

Thank you everyone for supporting my clearance sale over on my Etsy shop.  I am now all “sold-out” so I have closed for a few days to dust down the shelves, have a good tidy-up and then re-stock with lovely Bustle & Sew patterns.  Patterns are still available on my website, if your fingers are itching to stitch and you can’t wait to  start an exciting new project!

It’s been a hectic few days altogether for me – at the weekend Townie Husband and I went up to Bristol to help Rosie move.  This also included several trips to Ikea (me) and assembling flat-pack furniture (him)!  While I was in Ikea with Rosie I was very interested to see how they sell their fabric.  The bolts were stacked on shelves, for you to take down and measure the amount you wanted – but they didn’t charge by length, but by weight!  I guess this was to account for wonky cutting by the less experienced.  Rosie of course is a big fan of Rosali, so we came away with a nice length in blue.  I am pleased to report that the cushion I made was well-received and will be taking pride of place on the sofa when all the unpacking is finished.

Don’t forget, you can download the free pattern here if you haven’t done so already.
Meanwhile, returning to the subject of  knitting .. it’s always been a great way for me to relax.  I learned to knit at a very early age, probably about 8 or 9 and was very proud of my first achievement, a rather wonky knitted teddy in garter stitch!  I feel lucky that knitting remains a fun pastime though – I have many childhood memories of my mum unravelling outgrown school jumpers, washing the wool in skeins to relax the crinkles, then rewinding (often with my help) and knitting into new woollies.  I don’t think this would have been much fun – though it was certainly economical and eco-friendly!

Dandelion

But I can knit for fun!  I used to love making little cardigans and jumpers for Rosie when she was a toddler, but these days she isn’t quite so thrilled by the idea of a cardigan with sparkly buttons and dancing mice (my hardest challenge for her)!  It’s fun making Easter bunnies for other little ones to enjoy though … and I’d like to introduce you to my first batch this year …

Catkin

Here are Dandelion and Catkin … and in the picture at the top of this post you can also see Primrose, Poppy and Teasel.  They’re all knitted in good quality natural fibres and measure between 10″ and 12″ tall.

Violet

I don’t make very many knitted toys as I want to keep my knitting as something I do to relax, but I am hoping to complete another two or three bunnies before Easter.  I’ll let you know when they’re listed – it will be towards the end of the week when I re-open my Etsy shop.

Your little bunnies are just so cute. I especially love Violet in her sweet little pinafore.
I have started the Funky Bird stitchery (thanks again for the pattern) I just love the cushion you made for Rosie and have to have one like it for my CK room!

So lovely! I have been looking for a pattern to knit similar bunnies myself for myself(I have no intention to sell them). Do you by any chance sell patterns of them? Or do you know where to find them? I would be very pleased if you could help me out.
Bye,
Marian

Congratulations on your beautiful new site and wishing you lots of success with it :O) I’m in the midst of trying to do the same myself – it’s a minefield – SEO, social media marketing, html etc etc But let’s hope it will all be worth it. Take care Michelle xx

Oh! I am so in love with Dandelion! I would have adored him as a child, I can imagine dragging him around by an ear and telling him all my secrets! You are so very clever – what beautiful examples of craft – I am making two wall hangings one themed on Iceland and one of Morocco a combination of embroidery, cross stitch, beading and tapestry. Wish I had more time! Well done – fantastic! Happy 1st birthday x
