Susie Watson Mother’s Day Make: Free Pattern

I know I have blogged before about Susie Watson Designs and how much I love her fabrics.  So I was delighted when a lovely lady named Jenni from Susie Watson contacted me to ask if she sent me a bundle of matching different pieces of Susie Watson Designs fabric, then could I create a project and tutorial for readers to be able to make their own item – with particular emphasis on an idea for a Mother’s Day gift.  Of course I said yes and so when a bundle of lovely goodies arrived, I put my current stitching to one side …..

Told the newfies they would have to be content with shorter (though in Daisy’s case definitely just as muddy!) walks for a couple of days ….

And set to work on my project.  I decided to make a little Dorothy Bag, complete with appliqued and embroidered heart, that I felt would be a perfect gift that any mum would love to receive on THE BIG DAY …..

Oh wow! that’s lovely. I haven’t got a mum anymore, but I think my daughter-in-laws will love one each. So that’s three to make!

Hi Helen,

I love the photo of the adorable Miss Daisy- our two black, long-coated (!) Alsatian girls are just the same; they love mud and water out on a walk but not the water you want to clean them up with!
Thank you for the free Dorothy Bag pattern – it looks fabulous and achievable so I might just find the time to do it.

Love,
Diana.

I love this bag!!! Thank you so much for sharing your design. I’m going to make myself one even though Mother’s Day isn’t until May here in Canada. Happy Mother’s Day, Helen. x

My Mom’s name was Dorothy, and although she’s no longer with us, I will be making this bag in her honor. She taught me to embroider over half a century ago,and I will use my bag to hold safe my current embroidery projects. Thank you for such a lovely Mother’s Day gift. It holds many memories for me already.
