And now for something completely different! I thought that in my many years of stitching I’d probably
embroidered most animals – but I must admit that my little grandson Freddie’s request for a gecko was something completely new for me!
This gecko is perched quite comfortably on a branch with his beady eye wide open looking for the next tasty insect snack. His body is worked in French knots to represent his warty skin and the spines along his back and tail are closed blanket stitch (stitch diagram included). I worked him on black linen as I thought this showed off his vibrant colours nicely.
