I wanted to stitch a special something to commemorate the life and service of our late Queen Elizabeth II and so I came up with this design of a lion and a unicorn (part of the Royal Coat of Arms) supporting a commemorative shield upon which rests a crown. Although they’re taken from the Coat of Arms, I think my two little animals look a lot friendlier than their heraldic versions – the lion in particular looks as though he’s having rather a fun time.
Stitches used are bullion stitch, chain stitch, French knots and split stitch. There is a little simple hand applique.
Shown mounted in 9” x 5” hoop.
