All this week we’re celebrating the 100th issue of the Bustle & Sew Magazine which was published for the very first time in February 2011, such a very long time ago now. Back then the magazine was a very slender publication, with just a few patterns and sewing-related articles. Today it’s much more wide-ranging, as we like to share with our readers everything we love about life here in the English countryside – with sewing very much at its heart of course. We also include not two or three but SIX Bustle & Sew patterns every month – below you can see the contents of just a few issues from 2018….
And, even after so many years, and one hundred(!) issues, our magazine is still advert-free – every single page is full of colourful content for you to enjoy. And we’re offering the chance for one lucky reader of this blog to receive a year’s subscription absolutely free!
That’s twelve lovely issues – seventy two patterns, twenty-four talented makers, oodles of great recipes, sewing tips, and much more besides, worth $66 – that’s around fifty pounds sterling.
Please note, this is a digital publication and the winner will receive their magazine by email every month. To enter this draw for a whole year’s subscription to the Bustle & Sew Magazine please leave a comment below, and just for fun tell us what is your favourite season of the year and why. The winner will be chosen by random selection and will be notified by Wednesday 1 May. The competition is open to everyone, wherever you may live.
Winter is my favorite season. Love to watch it snow! Although I live in Florida now, I wish we could go back home.
Loving your work, especially the deer wall mount and your embroidery hoops. Thanks for your enthusiasm and inspiration.
What a terrific giveaway, very generous. Lucky winner whoever they are.
Now that I’m retired all four seasons are my favorite! I get to decide when and where I go on a day-to-day basis instead of travelling to work everyday. I now get to enjoy the best of each season.
My favorite season has to be Spring as it’s brings so much hope of new beginnings just around the corner. New buds everywhere, lambs in the fields, daffodils dancing in the Spring sunshine (my favourite flower), the smell of fresh cut grass – I could go on. I love your concept and really admire your work. I’ve finally got around to ordering my first kit which I’m really looking forward to arriving soon. Keep up the good work x
Oh, it HAS to be Spring. After months of darkness, cold and whatever else Mother Nature decides to throw at us, I just long for Spring. The first glimpse of the green ‘halo’ of buds bursting just lifts me so much.
My favourite season is Spring – because of all those lovely flowers…and my birthday! Thank you for these great giveaways and congrats on your 100th issue! xx
I love summer for its delicious warmth, smooth light and longer days for working on all my projects
My favourite season is Spring. I love seeing the garden re-emerging after Winter and the hope of things to come.
My favorite season is fall because it’s the perfect weather to go out with a nice jacket and scarf and watch the kids play while doing some handwork. It’s also the perfect time to cuddle up under a big blanket and watch a movie with hot cocoa!
What again a GREAT prize. Thanks a lot for all the work you do to design. And for offering these prizes. Best wishes. Up to the next 10 years! God bless.
I think it would have to be Spring…When the weather is starting to get warmer, flowers are starting to bloom, lots of new life on the farm and wildlife, people’s moods lift, colour starts to emerge…
My favourite season of the year is spring when all the plants start coming back to life and beautiful flowers start emerging from the bulbs I’ve planted 💐😊
Autumn. Maybe because I come from Madrid and after a very long, very hot and dry summer, we can star breathing fresh air again and all the sudden, the colours and the light of the city change into something gorgeous. Now I live in England and still think autumn is magic. 🙂
What an amazing please. Congratulations on such an awesome achievement.
I love Autumn. It’s here now in New Zealand. I love it because the temperature is perfect for going long walkies along the river with my two Briard puppies, Bobbin and Hagrid.
Spring is my favourite season.
The weather is warming up.
Trees are growing leaves. Flowers are appearing.
Birds are making nests and feeding in the garden. Butterfly’s and bees are starting to visit our garden.
We can plant flowers and grow some vegetables and mow the lawn.
Easter is coming, and we can spend time together as a family.
Spring is my favourite time of year. 😊
Love the write ups from Crafters!!
Definitely spring when everything comes to life, the leaves are that special fresh green colour and all the spring flowers are here again – ooh and the cuckoo. Love it.
My favorite season at this point in my life is Spring, mostly because it is means winter is moving out and warm weather is moving in, but the land awakening it’s colors of life and rebirth are beautiful. For me that is huge because of increased physical pain issues winter cold brings. If just going on the colors of the seasons then Autumn has been my favorite all my life. I love the colors, the holidays, and the smells of the earths harvest and it’s settles in for a winters rest.
Creatively my favourite time of the year is spring. The new colours and the bright sunny days are full of inspiration. However, in myself, I think autumn is my favourite time of year. I love the cold in the air and the smell of bonfires, as well as the stunning colours. Am I allowed two?
My favourite season of the year is definitely Autumn. When the weather is getting colder I can wrap up in snuggly jumpers, under a blanket with a hot chocolate and it’s the best! Dark nights and knowing Christmas is just around the corner always feels magical.
Spring is my favourite season! Warm enough for the beach that is not too crowded and all the beautiful spring flowers
My favourite season has to be the Spring, because lilac is my favourite flower. It reminds me of my grandmothers garden when I was a little girl where I would lean into her lilacs to surround myself with the amazing smell.
An amazing prize for anyone! I love spring it’s a time everything starts to burst into life after winter, love watching the trees come to life, flowers starting to bud & little lambs frolicking in the fields.
My favorite time of year is fall. I get to wear all my sweaters . I also love to prepare my stitching projects for the winter. Thanks for all the giveaways.
I love spring everything is waking up. from flowers to animals, the nights are getting lighter, its so lovely
Can I pick all 4 seasons because they are all amazing in their own right? Maybe summer because I get to not do the school run (6 weeks of summer)
A difficult one as all our seasons bring treasures and wonders but if pushed I am going to have to say Spring. The beautiful fresh signs of life, yellow from daffodils to dandelions and delicate wild primroses. Birds filling the air with their chatter as they busy themselves, longer brighter days giving us the feel of even better things to come, such as glorious days at our beautiful coast.
Happy 100th!!
My favourite season is Autumn (I’m in Australia)
I love Autumn as the weather is cooler, the days are calmer and the colour of the leaves is beautiful!
Spring, for the promise of new life
My favourite season used to be autumn as that’s when my birthday is ,but now I’m older I think spring has the edge.
Would love the opportunity to win.
I’m a beginner sewer and like the inspiration
My favourite season is Spring…. full of bright sunshine, fresh green shoots and endless possibilities!
The winter months are my favourite months of the year. I live in South Africa and it does get very cold but to sit on the couch with my hot water bottle and blanket, Kitty and sew. That is my favourite place to be. Sadly i lost my kitty last year. She was over 15 years old. I love to applique.
My favourite season, oh what a difficult question! The celestial blue of a fair summer sky, our beehives buzzing with life, my son home from University and the house filled with teenagers and laughter. Autumn, with that exciting change in the air, memories of new school uniform and pencil cases, woodsmoke, claret-rich berries and the anticipation of elderberry wine. The austere pleasures of winter, putting the garden ‘to bed’, bringing out fur throws and candles, the excitement of Christmas and … maybe ….. snow. And the spring; the first bulbs pushing through the cold earth, the first warmer days, lambs in the fields and the promise of new life and growth all around. Surely, one season alone would lose it’s lustre; each in counterpoint with the others brings all to their full glory, as complementary colours on a wheel or flavours in a memorable meal. The seasons change, yet their precious familiarity remains. I choose them all!
Hello and thank you for the offer. My favourite season is Autumn because it displays all my favourite colours.
Spring just gets me all intiggerated with energy and optimism. This is the season for sewing bunny print dresses, meadow flower skirts, and homewares in all those happy Springtime colours 😀
I would love to win the years Subscription. I am in awe of the fabulous designs and patterns in each issue. The designs have a unique charm about them while keeping trends with what is new. I would love to restart my sewing and leave heirlooms for my Grandchildren. Thank you for the chance.xxx
I think spring has to be my favourite
Day by day more and more colours added to my surroundings and the promise of warm long days to come
I love autumn, it’s when I start to plan my craft projects for the winter months and start getting them ready. It’s so much fun sorting out my ideas, plans and patterns and makes the thoughts of cold winter months bearable and I begin to look forward to all that time of creativity.
I am in awe of the fabulous designs and patterns in each issue and would love to win the years subscription. Thank you for the chance.
I like Spring for the beautiful flowers but my favourite season is probably autumn… I love getting cosy in jumpers and quilts!!
I love the Spring, daffodils, snowdrops, bluebells and blossom, what’s not to like!
Hi, spring and autumn are the best seasons for me health wise, but of the two, I think I’ll choose spring as it’s such a joyful season with everything springing to life again after the long dark winter. I love seeing spring flowers, lambs playing in the fields nearby and lighter evenings.
I love the Spring when the earth seems to wake up from it’s slumber and everything and everyone is full of hope and anticipation for the year ahead!
Spring is sprung! A chance to be outside in the garden and watch things grow, nurture new plants and spot young goldfinch families feeding on sunflower hearts. And yet…autumn, the build up to Christmas, lots of long evenings at the kitchen table crafting gifts for my friends and family, exploring new crafts and discovering new skills. Kicking leaves piled up at the side of the road and watching the starlings crazily devouring mealworms. Do I really have to choose?
my favourite season is spring because of all the new wildlife and baby animals appearing 🙂
I love autumn. The turning leaves and beautiful rich colours.
I love the Summer especially July, the month of my birthday and my marriage (32 years this year). I remember my lovely mum she was a July birthday too and my grandma. It’s a month of happiness and loving memories and blue sky and sunshine, birdsong and holidays.
Autumn. The change from vibrant greens to golden honey and firey reds.
The sound of leaves flutter to the earth and crunch under foot.
The smell of smoke from bonfires on the breeze.
And the warm damp smell of decay from the rotting foliage. That goes back into the earth to keep it rich and fed throuout the cold of winter.. To be reborn again in spring.
Spring is my favorite season when everything is born again. Beautiful flowers, warmer weather, and birds begin to sing. Thanks for the giveaway!
Spring is my favorite when everything is born again. Beautiful flowers, warmer weather, and birds begin to sing. Thanks for the giveaway!
Spring is my favourite…
New life after the winter season…
Love your work…
Thank you Bustleandsew for your wonderful ideas and inspiring news letters which bring a joy to the day among other dull emails sitting in that inbox!
In answer to your question..
My favourite season of the year is…
SPRING 🐣🤸🏼♂️🗝🔐🌼…
Unlocks memories of Easter’s past .. Being taken shopping for new clothes & new sandals when you were young (am now almost 63) ..
Giving daffodils to Mum for Mothering Sunday/Easter and receiving them from my Children when I became a Mum..(who needs fancy bouquets)..
Children’s faces as they see a new born chick or lamb for the first time..
The colour YELLOW.. makes you smile, bringing thoughts of new beginnings and new Happy Times to remember with your expanding families..
BLUE.. for the carpets of bluebells you see on your country walks …
Finishing the spring day with a contemplative sigh and a smile to the world for the miracles it brings..
I just love the change of each season. The crisp mornings of spring, the long hot days of summer, then when the evenings start to get cold in autumn and winter so you can rug up by the heater and make that a good excuse to sew all day!!
Spring, always spring, mum used to say it was because I was born in March.. I love the the newness. Everything bursting to grow. The colours , the warmth in the sun. Everything shaking it’s winter coat off. New life and energy .. but Autumn comes a close second …
My favourite seas is the Spring because my garden looks its best with such pretty colour combinations to inspire me every day and because the weeds haven’t taken hold I can sit inside my French windows and see to my heart’s content. Congratulations on your 100th birthday x Keep up the precious work x
Loops new phone SEW to my heart’s content!
Oh Bustle and SEW I am rubbish with this phone I hope I win as I am much better at sewing than technology xx
I love the winter, because Rosie ( springer ) love the frosty morning.
My favorite season is autumn. I love the changing colours of the leaves on the trees. The landscape becomes so beautiful and the weather is still nice and warm so you can enjoy the outdoors for a little while before winter sets in here in New Zealand.
I love winter. Comfort food, pancakes with cinnamon, soup etc warm jerseys and blankets. I get a lot of confused looks when I say I prefer winter, living in sunny South Africa but our summers are just too hot. Like I tell my husband if you’re cold you pile on warm clothes if you’re dying of heat there’s a limit to what you can take off!
Every season is my favorite, when they come. We are lucky to have all the four distinct seasons, and they all bring joy and tasks to solve. I do think my absolute favorite is spring, all the new life exploding in every garden and farms, replacing a long, dark and cold winter. But winter is my favorite hobby-doing-season, then I take the long evenings to sew and knit. Happy 💯 éditions anniversaire 🎂
Spring! A time to renue.. my favorite colors in bloom, the sweet smells, the first Robin.light rains, warmer, but not hot days.

(I wrote my email wrong on the last comment 🙈)
My favourite season has to be autumn, ‘of mist and mellow fruitfulness’. I love the changing colour of the leaves on the trees. A little nip in the air, so you can dig out your favourite scarf! The changing quality of the daylight with a little mist… The structural shape of trees without their leaves are gradually revealed as are the ripe hips and berries everywhere. The potential is there even as the year moves into winter.
thank you for endless kindness and inspiration, you probably have no idea how many smiles and stitches you have inspired. as for seasons…..just love that they change and always bring something new, refreshing us with hope.
I don’t think I can pick just one season. I love them all. Each one is unique in its own right.
I love Autumn, the colours are beautiful, love the crunchy leaves on the ground.
Love getting my warmer jumpers out and getting to wear all my scarves again. Can’t beat a frosty morning, sun shining and you can see your breath in the air, plus its all leading up to christmas 🙂
My favourite season is summer. I love the long, warm days and want to spend all my time outside puttering in the garden, relaxing on the front porch, or hiking on the trails in our neighbourhood.
Fall! The breathtaking colors of nature are inspirational and the weather is perfect for outdoor exploring!
I Love the colours of spring and always think of the poem :
Spring has sprung, the grass has riz
I wonder where the birdies is,
The birdies on the wing
But that’s obsurd, I always thought the wing was on the bird.
However being a winter baby I also have to love it when it snows.
Summer is the best. Fun in the sun!
It just has to be Spring – from seeing the first few buds breaking out of the ground to the baby lambs frolicking in the fields, it’s a reminder of how good it is to be alive.
Beautiful Spring is my favourite season. Warm enough to go for a walk without bundling up, but cool enough to not get too hot. But above all the ground is dry enough, even after rain, that my two dogs don’t arrive home covered in mud and need washing!
Christmas! Everything about it- it was my mom’s favorite as well.💕
My favorite season is autumn because I love the cooler temps and the approaching season of cozy days at home.
If I have to choose one it would be spring. Full of promise. Seed staring. Spring training for baseball.
I love winter! Cozy time inside plus Christmas makes it my favorite.
My favorite season is spring! We have very long winters here with little sun. It’s so wonderful to see more light, feel a little warmth, and see things coming to life again. Thanks for such a fun giveaway. Your projects are a bright spot in my day!
A very challenging question of the heart. For are we not so blessed to have the wonderful four seasons to marvel at their beauty. Favorite… Fall is a nice time of year. Our land is filled with color everywhere you go. And the smells are filling the air with falling leaves and burning; Festivals everywhere to fill the air from Apple Cider; Corn Fest; Pumpkin. We cozy up with Soups; warm drinks; and wonderful Fall treats. We wrap up the gardens and look forward to the delicious foods we have prepared for future cold months. How can we not be captivated in such a beautiful, colorful season called Fall!
I love both spring and autumn equally. The freshness of spring after a long winter and the colours of autumn after the tiredness of late summer.
I love in Northern NH often referred to as God’s country. Every season here is beautiful and challenging. I love the colors of fall, the quiet of the first snow of winter, the new hope of spring and the hay days of summer.
It is so hard to decide a favorite season. Each one is special in its own way. Spring brings hope and new life and the beauty of flowers, summer the warm sunshine and long days, fall a chill in the air and the most gorgeous tree colors and winter the beauty of fallen snow that reminds us things have to die and rest for new life to begin again. I’ve always said fall or spring was my favorite and I’ll pick Fall this time just because I love getting the sweaters out, watching the leaves change, seeing the animals scurrying to get ready for the cold, enjoying a fire on a crisp, cool evening. If you don’t live in a place that experiences each season – I hope you get a chance to visit a place that does. God gave us much beauty to enjoy! Thanks for the chance to win a subscription.
It’s difficult to chose a favorite season: they all have something about them I enjoy. The autumn colors and coolness, winter snow and cuddling by the fire….spring and all the world coming to life again….summer sunshine and playing outside. Sorry. I can’t just pick one!
Fall is my favorite season! I live in Florida and our summers are so very hot! By November, once we get some cooler air in the mornings, I feel energized and so excited! My husband and I like to exercise early in the mornings so the cooler air allows us to sleep in a bit and exercise in the daylight. A delight!
Congratulations! There are always such lovely designs. Thank you so much for a wonderful donation. Someone is going to be so privileged. May you be blessed with a 100 more issues.
Spring is my favorite season, as all the lovely garden and wild plants are coming back to life. I love the spring flowers, the daffodils and primroses.
Autumn is my favorite time of year. I live in the Mountains of Colorado and watching the Aspen trees turn from green to yellow to orange against snow capped mountains is beautiful!
Autumn is my favourite season definitely! The beautiful colours of the turning leaves, ripening rose hips etc, the weather cooling so I can feel justified snuggling indoors with some sewing! And the promise of winter & Christmas to come. What could be nicer?x
My favorite? Spring! I love the rebirth and the hope it brings
Not to knock the other seasons; they are all beautiful but Fall has to be my favorite. Pumpkins, Apple cider and all the colors make it a season to look forward to. Good luck everyone and happy Spring🌷
Congratulations on the 100th issue! My favourite season is the Fall. I love that you can wear a cozy sweater. Walks in the woods are beautiful with all the colourful leaves. My favorite season is Winter in Florida. Why you ask? Well it’s the perfect weather to open all the windows and let the sun shine in on all the projects I have going. A cool day sees me knitting, painting or just reading a great magazine.
I love fall. The beautiful colors , coolness in the evenings , the harvest of the blackberries we grow and cooler weather to make jam for Christmas presents.
Hi Helen, Thank you for such wonderful articles and patterns. My favorite season is Fall. I love the colors especially. Also the weather is very refreshing and renewing of my energy and makes me want to dig in to the fabrics and sew, sew, sew.
My favorite season is Fall. Things are winding down in the garden and gearing up for the holidays. It’s time to sew for gifts, drink hot tea and bake cookies. What’s not to love!
Spring when the green and colour come back to life in. the countryside.
summer – the weather is hot but I can be
outside without a lot of heavy clothes.
I can have the windows open for fresh
air whenever the humidity is down.
I can get in the pool to cool off.
Just like not being cooped up in the
house. Congratulations on
100 issues.

Fall is my favourite season. Not only is my birthday in the fall but it’s great walking weather and I still love to walk through piles of leaves swishing them as I go.
I love the fall because of the lovely rich colours. And I love your patterns and would really enjoy the magazine.
Favorite Season. This has always been a tough question as I live in Minnesota, USA and every season is so unique! I do love the spring because it brings so much hope and life! The temperature is also perfect. After months of subzero and below freezing temperatures, 50 degrees feels like summer! 😋
I live in a town full of Japenese blossom trees so at the moment SPRING
I love winter! I love the cooler air, love to feel it on my face when I step outside! Love the long evenings when I can put my jammies on early and snuggle in for a cozy evening.
Fall! The colors and coolness in the air can’t be beat.
Autumn is still my favorite. The weather is usually glorious here in Texas and the craziness of Christmas hasn’t yet begun.
Summer is absolutely my favorite season. Warm sunshine and my swimming pool. I love floating on my raft. I love swimming. There’s no better season for me.
I love spring; when everything is starting to grow again and it’s not too hot. Love waiting for all the bulbs to add their bright flowers to the garden after a long winter
My favorite season is Fall. The harvest. The fresh vegetable being brought in from the fields. Apples/Pumpkins…colorful leaves and cool air! Love to begin my Holiday stitching gifts…with thoughts of Christmas just around the corner!
Fall is my favorite season. I love the colors, the crisp air and after a hot summer the cool evenings around a backyard camp fire.
I love summer (June). It is the season of ligh, of colors, of fruits, of holidays, of sea and lakes and mountains. It is the season to meet friends around a table for a grilled party in a warm evening by candlelight.
Fall is my favorite season, the colors are so beautiful and vibrant. It cools off from summer and you have the anticipation of the coming holidays. Best time of the year. Plus football! 😀
By far…autumn is my favorite season! The colors are so gorgeous, they inspire me all year long!
Every season has its joys but summer is the one I treasure! Give me sun, sand and ocean and I’m in heaven.
My favourite season is summer!! I love long days and the feeling in summer that everything is possible! Congratulations on your 100 issues, love your magazine! 💝
I love fall, relief from scorching summer temperatures and my favorite color pallet. The garden is winding down leaving me time for quilting.
Congratulations on your 100th issue!
Spring is my favorite season. I love growing plants from seed and watching my garden wake up and change daily. The birds return and change colors, some even nest in our yard and we watch the family grow.
Fall is my favorite season. I love the cooler weather, the colors, the sounds and smell of the season. I love the idea of getting ready for the winter season by slowly (sometimes) making ready for the snow/cold that is coming.
Spring is my favourite season. I love to see the new growth coming through the ground and the trees coming into bud. The promise of warmer weather on the way.
Fall – the colors, the smells and no mosquitos!
Congrats on reaching your 100th milestone!
Autumn. Definitely. I love the cooling temperatures and the changing light, pulling out the warm woolen sweaters from my cedar chest. And even though the days begin to shorten, the hours spent with my stitching increase.
Happy 100th issue, Helen & Rosie!
XO Linda B.
My favorite season of the year is spring because of all of the new life! Congratulations to you on your 100th and thank you for the chance to win!
Fall is my favourite season. The weather is not too hot, nor cold. All of the colours of the leaves are so very attractive. These colours all blend and create a dazzling display. They are my favourite choices for quilting, sewing and embroidery.
It’s hard to pick a favorite as I love the turn of the seasons-each blending into the next. If I have to choose it would be Autumn. The cooler temperatures, the rich golden quality of the sunlight, the anticipation of the stillness of Winter and the joy of Christmas.
Congratulations on 100 issues!
I love spring, for all the new colors that are coming through after a long cold winter. My favorite flowers are blooming and everything is green.
Love the variety in every issue. Stories, patterns, recipes oh my! Thank you for the years of creating and enjoyment. Keep up the awesome work
I love Autumn. Fabulous colours as nature prepares for winter, and that nip in the air that gives you a sense of anticipation for cozying up in the the home and crafting.
I love Spring and Fall. Both are beautiful in New York state by the Finger Lakes!
Congratulations in your 100th issue!! My favorite season is the summer, I enjoy gardening, walking, biking, and tent camping.
Spring is my favorite seasons. It is very hopeful to see the vibrant colors again after a long winter, especially emerald green.
Fall is my favorite time of year. The warm days and cool, crisp nights. The bounty of the harvest, the changing colors of the landscape, decorating for Halloween, breaking out the sweaters, the crunch of leaves underfoot, canning, baking and sewing for the coming holidays.
Thank you for the generous opportunity to win such a fabulous gift, and congratulations on issue 100!
Spring is my favourite. Our winters are long and cold here in Alberta so it’s nice to finally not have to dread going outside.
In this area of the US, Fall is a beautiful season with the trees, flowers shades of oranges, the smells of fall trees, apples harvested, and the falling leaves is special.
My favorite season of the year is Spring. I love Spring because of many flowers appearing, new leaves on the trees with a beautiful green, days appear to be longer.
Thank you for this give away.
My favorite season is fall. I love the bright days that are not too hot. Although I don’t live in a place with the brilliant fall colours, I enjoy watching the change of seasons.
Congrats on 100 and here’s to 100 more! My favorite season is Christmas. I love not only to create for Christmas season but celebrating this season as well. I actually create Christmas all year long and watch Christmas movies & read books . Yes I love this season. It’s the feeling I get from it. The giving of gifts. I make handmade gifts and send them out as surprises to folks, authors and friend in book clubs.
After the long the long winter months, spring is a welcome relief. I love to see nature come to life again, and hear the birds singing in celebration.
Summer is my favorite season ! Here in Quebec Canada you’ve got to love summer…. With close to 6 months of winter summer is never long enough 🙂 But,on the bright side, our climate leaves me with enough time to sew, quilt, knit. Thank you for this nice contest!
Spring is the most magical of all the seasons with all the new birth of flora & fauna. There’s nothing to beat the gentle fragrance of the delicate but hardy wild primrose & to see the tiny lambs on their spindly new legs growing stronger in the spring sunshine. It’s also the most wondrous songs bursting from the hedgerows as the blackbirds & their neighbours start their welcoming of the new season. Yes, Spring to me is the welcoming promise of another year.
My favorite season where I live in Northern California is winter. That’s when we have all the rain. As a Washington state native I love the rain, it’s also when everything is green
Would love winning this! Your ideas are amazing and instructions very clearly written.
The seasons celebrated with Bustle & Sew, by making it all so inspiring all the seasons have a reason but especially the ones that help me through the winter with colourful , creative inspiration. Thank you both for all your hard work and generosity.
I don’t have a real favourite season, but I do have a least favourite. Here in Australia the summer is too hot for my liking, so I prefer all the other seasons
Autumn is my favorite season. Has been since I was a child I think b/c after the helter-skelter randomness of summer fun came the return of the school year and routine, new school clothes and reconnecting with classmates. The gradual turning of summer to autumn brings a nostalgic feeling while I savor the crispness of the fall air and smile at leaves turning colors and swirling at my feet. Sweater weather and snuggling up with tea or hot cocoa while preparing for the winter months. There is so much to love about autumn. I only wish it lasted longer.
My favorite season is fall. It reminds me of the excitement of going back to school as a little girl and getting to pick out new school clothes, jumping in leaf piles, pumpkin pie, apple cider, hay rides, Halloween costumes and candy, Thanksgiving, spiced pumpkin lattes, baked traditional foods, autumn colored crafts, and handknit and crochet textures to wear or make.
I love Spring, every day there is something new to see growing. The flowers may be short lived , but they are exquisite. I love your magazine and thanks for the opportunity to win a year of magazines
All the seasons are my favorite! I live where there are 4 distinct seasons and over 300 days of sunshine a year! I enjoy hiking and snowshoeing in the nearby mountains.
Spring! I live where we have very long and dark winters. The return of warmth and sunshine lift the spirit.Congratulations on such a wonderful achievement!
I love everything about autumn. Especially the leaves changing colour but also the food, the cooler weather allowing me to pull out my favourite cozy jumpers and the start of the build up to Christmas.
Spring because it is a season of promise and the lighter evenings mean I can stitch for longer.
Autumn is my favourite season I love to walk through and kick the piles of leaves which get blown to the side of the path in the wind. Still a kid at heart
I love Winter! Mainly for the quiet that snow brings to my small town. I also love the downtime (crafting time!) that the cooler weather brings!
It’s hard to choose a season because each has a good aspect to it. But I would choose spring because after a long, cold winter the weather is warming up and the flowers are blooming leading to summer. In that case, I also like fall because its the opposite, from warm to cold.
Congratulations on 100 issues!
Fall is my favorite time of the year. It is such a relief from the long hot summer. I love the fall colors.
My favorite choices for quilting are paper piecing and applique.
I love Autumn. First off, it has two names, Fall and Autumn so that’s a plus for variety’s sake. Plus I just love the idea of things changing and it’s still warm enough to do things outside and there is an extra challenge of planting things in the Fall that will make it through the Winter. I love watching the animals prepare for winter, storing things up, scurrying around. I like to see the people to as they get more and more excited for the holidays. Plus, my birthday is in that season. They say people’s favorite season is usually the one they’re born in (or on the cusp of)…I always wonder if that’s true. My second runner up would be Spring…love the blooming things. Birds and insects darting about. Wow! 100 issues so fantastic for you, for US that get to enjoy it! Thanks for having such a remarkable publication!
Congratulations on your 100th issue. My favorite season is rainy season. I just love the rain, smell of the soil, the sound. Best time to do sewing and embroidery work.
I love the Fall. Love the Fall colors plus I love that I can run the oven & make the house full of delicious smells.
Autumn is my favorite season. The colors are gorgeous & the temperature is my reward for surviving another Season of Hibernation (a/k/a Summer).
Normally I would say spring is my favorite season because of the beautiful days. Summer is also my favorite because of the freedom it offers. I love fall because it offers the chance to open the house again and is a break from the oppressive heat. Winter is great with all of its festivities and fun. So which IS my favorite season? 🤷🏻♀️😁
Autumn because it is a time to slow down and settle in new routines and new beginnings.
SPRING! is my favorite season — perhaps because I was born on March 20. I’ve just come inside after planting big containers of annuals. The sage is ready to bloom! I’d love to win a year subscription to Bustle & Sew.
My favourite season is winter – I love snow and log fires.
I leave in Brazil.
My favorite season is spring, I love flowers and love also bustle and sew spring magazine, well , I love Bustle And Sew Magazine very much!!!
And I love to have a chance to participate.tanks very much!
My favorite and the best season of the year has to be Autumn! No other season engages the senses more like Autumn. From the spectacular colors of the trees, gourds, flowers and pumpkins and the scents of the leaves burning or on the damp ground and the cooking scents and tastes of the special foods of the season to the happy sounds of children and grownups alike enjoying Halloween and other fall activities, Autumn has it all!
I enjoy all the seasons in their time. (Shh, don’t tell the others, but Fall is my favorite.)
I like fall for the cool, crisp days after a summer of heat.
SPRING! Love the daffodils that pop up in the random still winterized areas!
My favorite season is summer. I finally get outside to enjoy the warm weather, have a glass of wine and start to plant my flower gardens, after “hibernating” during the winter.
I love winter! & I love your beautiful patterns, they make me happy.
I am one of just a few family members here in the US. Most of them live in Scotland and England. Because of this I LOVE things British….and your magazine fits into my life so beautifully..I love Autumn best, first as I am not a heat-lover, and the cooler days let me spend more time outdoors, and lots more things inside also.
I am one of just a few family members here in the US. Most of them live in Scotland and England. Because of this I LOVE things British….and your magazine fits into my life so beautifully..I love Fall the best, as I am not a Heat-lover, and enjoy going outside more.
I think my favourite is winter, we have so much to celebrate as a family through the colder months of the year. My childrens birthdays, my wedding anniversary, mine and my husbands birthday and now we have a new granddaughter who was born in January to add to all the celebrations.
Oooh, love this mag! My aunt showed me her copy and I’ve been coveting it ever since!
My favourite season was winter, as I lived in Finland and it would be beautiful and snowy and white, but now it is summer as I like in the UK, and I can get my cute summer dresses out.
I love Fall, with all the beautiful colors and the cool weather after what is usually a long, hot Summer here in Iowa.
Where I live I enjoy having all four seasons, but my favorite would be spring. My birthday is in April and I look forward every year for for the new colors of the trees and flowers. After a long winter comes a rebirth.
whilst I love the warm sunshine and long sunny days of Summer, my favourite season is winter because I can lock myself away in my sewing room for days on end and hide from the cold wet weather outside without feeling guilty about not being outside doing other things 🙂
My favorite has always been summer. I’m a water girl and love the sensation of jumping into a pool of cool water on a warm summer day or walking on beach sand and looking in tide pools for interesting sea life.
I love Fall – I love the cooler weather but not freezing! Love the color changes!
I’ve been along for the ride since you’ve started, and enjoyed every issue; recipes, stories, introduction of family, pets, crafters, and ALL the WONDERFUL PROJECTS!! Here’s wishing you continued success.
P.S….I love the beauty of Autumn, and looking forward to the snuggling in that winter promises.
Cheers!
I love spring. Everything is renewed, rejuvenated, growth and creativity is in the air. Anything is possible, and summer is coming! Yaaaah!
Congratulations on 100 issues, Helen. My favourite time of the year is Autumn (now here in Australia).
just love winter the mist on the hills and a fire burning makes for a day perfect for stitiching
Spring is my favorite season. Love your website and reading about all the things going on with Bustle and Sew.
“ To everything there is a season…”. Every season is special to me, but if I really had to pick it would be Spring. Every Spring I am amazed by all the beautiful trees that bloom and the flowers that pop up everywhere. It is truly a magical time of year. 💐
Aaaah! WINTER has to be my favourite. Crisp cold mornings that make your cheeks tingle. Frost across the garden outlining sleeping plants and the occasional fall of snow. But, best of all, more opportunity to sit in front of a roaring fire and sew!
I love the long hot days of summer! We spend quite a lot of time hiking and visiting the lakes around us. Or on quieter days, we take some books outside and soak up the sunshine! The gorgeousness of summer is what gets me the through the gloomy months of February and March in Michigan.
Spring is my season – for hope, change of clocks for lighter days, new shoots of colour after a grey winter and warmth seeping into your bones.
My favourite season is Autumn. After a hot humid summer here in Queensland (Australia) Autumn brings cooler temperatures, a last burst of growth in the garden and the antics of all the birds preparing to build nests – a joy to sit on the verandah and watch. It’s the time when I can finally get back comfortably into hand sewing and crafting knowing there are many creative months till summer’s lethargy returns !
Spring is my favorite season, as I love to see all the new flowers start to bloom!
I love/hate autumn. Love it because the leaves on the maple tree just outside my door turn the most beautiful colours of red and orange, that I try to capture in needle work. Hate it because then all the leaves fall on the ground and need a lot of work to take up.
It is so hard to choose a favourite season as all are wonderful. My most favourite time of the year here on the south coast of Western Australia is probably late autumn after the rains have started, washing the forest clean and making the leaves sparkle, but before the cold sets in. The days are often balming and clear and just wonderful for getting out with the camera to take photos from which I then embroider scenes. That means, now is my favourite time of year.
My favorite season is SPRING because that’s when the plants and trees awaken. Winter is a depressing time for me here in New York and the Springtime brings me back to life!
My favorite season is SPRING because that’s when the plants and trees awaken. I love gardening and watching the seeds I plant turn into beautiful flowers.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Autumn is my favorite…I live in Southern California, so season changes are relatively subtle, but the light takes on a lovely hue come September…
Autumn is my favorite, I love everything about it!
Winter here in Texas , it’s about the only time gardening slows down and I can get some much anticipated stitching done .The weather in my part of the state is rarely severe .
I think it is wonderful that you are doing this. Your magazine looks amazing.
Here in the Midwest USA, in Iowa, we have the four seasons. My favorite season is actually the start of each season as the transition is like a new beginning every time.
I think I love Winter most of all. Love the quietness of the snow on the ground and having an excuse to just curl up somewhere with a cozy fire and a good book.
Thank you for the chance to win 🙂
I love spring – all the new green leaves and flowers and I can finally get out my sneakers and put away my winter coat.
Fall! Its cozy and my favorite flowers are blooming and its harvest time on the farm!
It’s so funny I received the notice of your 100th issue celebration today, congratulations! I had just spent enjoyable time looking at several issues I had downloaded to my iPad and started planning my next crafting effort, made a shopping list to get started and all.
I love the Fall, the colors suit me and we get a break from the heat.
Fall is by far my favorite. The brilliant colors of fall leaves bring me joy. And I’m usually so tired of the summer heat, I can’t wait for jeans and sweatshirts.
Autumn rewards us with harvest, colorful leaves and crisp mornings.
Spring would have to be my favourite time of the year. So many beautiful bulbs and the promise of warmer weather and then the gorgeous roses to come.
Winter is my favorite season… Love the snow!!
I love Autumn best. The trees are so beautiful, I love those first snowfalls, and the air just smells better.
My favourite season is always the season I am in as I think there are good and amazing things about every season. From the new flowers growing in spring, the beauty of summer and sitting in the garden to the colours and bonfires if autumn and the cosyness and Christmas in winter. Every season has the opportunity to do seasonal crafting and cooking which enhances the times. Love your magazine and patterns. Keep up the good work and here’s to the next 100 issues and more 😁
Strong seasonal changes whatever they are, are all exciting but noticeably late August early September has the biggest impact and ALWAYS the little mouse comes out in me getting ready for winter, gathering, harvesting, storing. When I take a practical look at why I should feel like this in todays world it makes no sense really but I soon banish those thoughts and run with my natural instincts, I hope it never stops being fun (now 54 I think perhaps its ingrained.) Oh and I’m busy passing it on to my young grandsons 🙂
Such a lovely and generous thing to do.
In Germany where I grew up my favourite season used to be winter, it’s fresh and cold. There’s lots and candles everywhere. It smells like baking cookies and everything is a bit quieter and a bit slower. My favourite time was when the first snow was falling.
In Australia on the east coast where I live now my favourite season is the time after summer, when the humidity goes away one night and you wake up with fresh quiet air. The sun is out still and it’s never really freezing cold. Although the houses feel much colder because they’re built for summer. A lot of flowers and trees bloom around that time with the last tropical rain showers and the wild life go crazy for them. Perfect time to get out and craft in nature. Congratulations on your achievement, you’re going amazing work.
Spring is my favorite season. Living in New England, the first awakenings of nature bring me joy that the cold, dark, snowy winter will soon be a memory.
Good morning – fall is my favorite season! Pumpkins in the “patch” and time around the fire pit are just a few of my favorite fall things.
Thanks for the give away and wishing all a wonderful day.
I love Spring because of all the lovely colours and beautiful flowers blooming, but Summer is my favourite season as I love the sun, it makes me happy, watching my daughter play in the garden whilst I can sit and craft away. Being a single disabled Mum can be difficult, but at least it has some benefits I guess.
I also like Autumn, all the different colours from the leaves on the trees.
I know for sure that Winter is my least favourite!!!
My favourite season is Autumn. I love the crispness of the air; the vibrant colours of leaves turning; the crunch of leaves underfoot and the comfort of the fire as the early nights turn colder.
Well normally I would say Spring but I have to say it has to be Winter because December is when my Birthday is and it is Christmas so what could be better ? … well for me anyway : )
My favorite season is Spring. This is when new beginnings start and the hope of sun shining bright and warm. LOVE LOVE LOVE Spring.
It has to be Spring! EVERYTHING IS ANEW! Budding Trees, blooming annuals, and BASEBALL season is back! It’s a great season, and a great time to start Christmas projects!
My favorite season is summer. I love the warm weather and sunshine. I also love spring when everything starts turning green and the flowers start popping up.
My favorite season is spring: watching each tree putting out tiny green leaves.
Spring, most definitely is my favorite season! So wonderful to see new leaves and buds on the trees after looking at them as skeletons all winter. All the birds singing and even people seem to get a spring in their step. Congratulations on reaching 100 issues!
I love Spring for the bursting forth of new life after a long, cold, Winter in Michigan! The sunshine, the crocuses, the Spring flowers, etc. Beautiful!
My favorite season is spring! Here is Alabama winter is chilly and summer is super hot, so spring is perfect!
I love winter , I love the fresh crisp winter days when you can go for a walk down the country lanes where there is holly bushes and mistletoe. In the garden always a robin and bushes with beautiful red berries . It’s cosy inside and great sewing time all snuggled up by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate and cinnamon toast . I love Bustle and Sew and all the Christmas patterns to make at that time too .X
My favorite season is fall. I like all of the colors of the fall leaves.
I like all that each season has to offer, from the new life of spring to the warmth of burrowing in fron of the winter fire. What a great prize & thank you for the opportunity!
My favourite season is the Spring. I love all the beautiful wild flowers and watching the trees changing all the time as the leaves gradually grow and unfurl.
My favorite season is Summer because it’s so warm and there is so much watermelon to eat!
My favourite season is Winter! I love the wild and rugged coast of North Wales where I live and there is no better celebration than Christmas! I feel no guilt at all about sitting in day after day to knit and sew to my hearts content whilst glancing up to see the wild seas. When the family visit and my home is decorated by all the things I have made year on year which always bring back so many happy memories of Christmas’s past. This year I have a grandchild so I’ll be making lots of new stuff for him to enjoy!!!
My favorite season is summer. I love to watch the sun set over the bay with my toes in the sand. Relaxing, and recharging.

My favourite season is autumn. It is a colourfull season where you spend as much time outside as inside.
Inside I sit down with a cup of tea and some creative project in front of me. Outside I make long walks in the autumnal colours .
I am new o the blog, and just ordered a Rosie’s Houseplants kit. I am super excited to try my hand at embroidery, and look forward to being a regular reader!!
