We’re nearly into March now, the month when the year turns once more, when the short, cold winter days are behind us and we look forward to the fresh green growth of spring and the summer days following behind. This year Easter is late, falling on April 20 so, unusually, Shrove Tuesday (aka Pancake Day!) falls in March, and so we bring you our recipe for the Great British Pancake (and tips for success too) in the new issue that’s published tomorrow.
March is also the month of daffodils, which grow in huge numbers on the roadsides and banks around our village, I always think like drifts of spring sunshine that have fallen to the ground that brighten even the gloomiest of days (and there are sure to be a fair few of these yet to come).
We also look at the history of the auricula – I have ambitions for my own auricula theatre one day, explore the world of the (mad March) hare, attempt to achieve the perfect satin stitch, look at some hand embroidery basics and much more besides….
