In the February issue of Bustle & Sew Magazine we were delighted to feature an interview with Julie Bulle from Les Miniboux. Based in Caen, France, she runs her business from her parents home making lovely screen printed homewares. Les Miniboux was born out of Julie’s desire to share her taste for illustration and home decor. She decided to mix things up and create objects with small original pieces of art on them.
We asked Julie about the techniques she uses to create her pieces, she told us;
“Since I create home decor, it mixes a lot of different techniques. The first step in my work is to draw. After I have a drawing that I like I can hand paint it on porcelain for the tableware I sell, or I’ll use screenprint for all the linens I create. Once it is screenprinted, I still have to sew it all before it’s ready to sell and ship.”
We also asked Julie to tell her a bit about her plans for the future…
“This coming year I will be focusing on finding new retailers to showcase my work. Since I moved, I need to create a new local network, with all kinds of professional contacts and that will be a lot of work. I’m also working on a new online shop besides from my Etsy shop, which I hope can be launched soon!”
Be sure to pop over to Julie’s Etsy shop and check out all her lovely pieces. You can also keep up to date with all the latest from Les Miniboux on Facebook and Instagram!
