In the April issue of Bustle & Sew Magazine we featured the very talented Sally from Sew Sal. Whenever Sally has a free evening after work or spare time at the weekend you will find her relaxing with one of her sewing projects in hand, either floral fabric hexagons being tacked together for her family patchwork quilt, embroidering with colourful embroidery floss making an image from her own illustrated designs or having in her hand a tapestry needle with beautiful fine wool looped into it working on a needlepoint canvas.
We asked Sally about the best piece of advice she’s ever been given. She told us…
“My family and friends are being a great support for me and are encouraging me to keep at what I’m doing. From a young age I have been taught to follow my heart and gut instinct. This has to be the best advice I have had so far as it has got me where I am today. Life is too short not to follow your heart in what makes you happy.”
We also asked Sally how she stays motivated and interested in her work. She told us; “I feel it is important to have personal projects on the go for when you are stuck in your design work. It’s great to refresh your mind and work on a project you don’t need to think about so much. When I’m feeling unmotivated about my Sew Sal work I stop what I’m doing and move onto one of my personal projects.”
You can find Sally on Etsy, Instagram and Facebook – do be sure to go and say hello!
