Elephants in Love Pattern

I was surprised – and delighted – to receive a phone call earlier this week from a very lovely lady called Janke.  Janke lives in the Netherlands (her English is brilliant) and she was trying to track down a pattern that I’d contributed a long while ago to the now defunct Sew Hip Magazine.  It turned out that she was searching for my Elephants in Love applique – part of a series of  “in love” designs I created 2 or 3 years ago.  One of the most popular was my Owls in Love …..

Owls in Love Cushion

But I digress …. After Janke’s call I had a bit of a rummage around my pattern files (I am afraid I am not a very organised sort of person) and realised that I hadn’t shared the elephants in love pattern before.  Although it’s quite simple, I think it’s very pretty – so I dusted it down and  re-formatted it into a pdf file rather than the working notes I sent off to the magazine.  And here it is …

I’ve added the pattern to my Free Newsletter Readers’ pattern library page – so if you’d like it – and/or any of the other patterns I share with newsletter readers, then please just CLICK HERE to subscribe.  Subscribing is free – and I promise that I will NEVER EVER share your email address with anyone else!

Ben and his Teddy Bear

Ben at about 15 months – what a cute youngster!

And finally – please keep your fingers crossed for Ben’s poor sore paw.  Sadly his recovery was very short-lived and he’s limping heavily again.  So tomorrow he’s off to the vet’s for X-rays.  Hopefully we’ll discover the problem and then begin to treat it effectively so he’ll soon start to feel better.

Thank you Janke for wanting this pattern and Thank you Helen for finding it…It’s wonderful :)… And hoping Ben’s paw is not too serious and he will recover soon…..Our 2 1/2 yr. old GSD somehow has a chunk of hair and skin missing from his tail, requiring antibiotics and bandaging….Boys will be Boys I guess !!

cute! — just wondering if the vet looked for those burs that burrow into the skin — they’re very common here in north america and hurt a lot (little thorns w/ barbs on them that wedge in and continue to burrow).

Hi Mary, thanks for the suggestion, but yes he’s been thoroughly checked and now we’re thinking it could be worsening arthritis (newfies are prone) or perhaps chipped bone or hairline fracture. Hopefully I’ll find out tomorrow.

Awwww you are so kind, Helen! I look forward to reading your blog so much! It especially is helping to make my days brighter now that I’m sitting here nursing a broken ankle! Love seeing and hearing about the pups photos and adventures too! Sorry about Ben’s paw, poor baby. My hound pup just got over an ear infection. Our fur babies do bring us so much joy! Thank you..

Poor Ben. Hope is will be healed soon. Does Ben have any boots ? That might help him heal as boots would protect on uneven ground.
Love the Elephants, too

Hi 🙂

I’ve been getting your newsletters & visiting your blog for at lease two years now (possibly a lot longer) & I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate all the hard work you put into the site and your newsletters 🙂

I don’t subscribe to your magazine because I’ve been quite poor for the last few years owing to being off work with a nasty back, however I’m back to working part-time now so hopefully I will be subscribing soon!

I’m really looking forward to the new Simple Stitches book too! 🙂 Also I think Ben looks like a teddy dog, every time I see photos of him I just wish I could give him a big hug!

Thanks again & please keep up the great work!
