Free St Patrick’s Day Pattern – Gaelic Blessing Embroidery

If February was the month of the kit here at Bustle & Sew, then March is already shaping up to be the month of hand embroidery.  I am so proud of my daughter Rosie who has just opened her own Etsy shop (thanks so much to everyone who has visited and supported her) selling her own handstitched necklaces …..

It’s called Tilly & Floss – and now she’s started her own blog too.  So if you’d like to keep up-to-date with all her stitching adventures, then please do pop over and take a look, I know she’d love to see you all!

Meanwhile, as well as the two hoops featured in the March issue of the Bustle & Sew Magazine, including my personal favourite

I have been busy working on a free pattern to celebrate St Patrick’s Day in a couple of weeks time.  Although I am not Irish and have never visited that country (one day perhaps?) my maternal grandmother was Eliza Mary McDowell who came to England back in the early 20th century.   She was an amazingly talented seamstress and embroiderer, and so this year, with her in mind, I stitched this hoop

With the first line of that beautiful Gaelic blessing …..

“May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”

I’d love to share this with you all – and please do feel free to share with others as much as you like.  This is my St Patrick’s Day gift to you all in honour of my Irish grandmother, Eliza Mary.

Just CLICK HERE to download your free pattern and remember there’s plenty of time to get stitching before St Patrick’s Day arrives.
