I used vintage cotton spools for my Cotton Spool Christmas ornament as I happened to have a bagful to hand – a lucky find at a charity shop recently! But you can purchase wooden spools quite easily if you don’t have vintage ones available. Somehow Christmas does bring out the (normally very well hidden) cross-stitcher in me and I think this little ornament is a fun way of combining cross stitch with some other bits and pieces you may have lying around your workroom!
