I always remember my grandma’s tea cosy, plump, with an embroidered flower design on a rather tea-stained cream background, warm with a full tea pot inside from which would presently emerge multiple “cuppas” while the grown ups sat and chatted. This design was inspired by these childhood memories, but uses easy felt and a mixture of applique and embroidery. I chose a 5mm thick wool felt blend and didn’t line my cosy, but there’s no reason whiy you shouldn’t line it if you prefer.
My cosy measures 11” across the bottom edge and I’ve given measurements, materials and the template to suit this size, but please see how to measure your pot (included in the pattern) to make sure your cosy is the perfect fit.
