Yesterday I went out on my porch …heard honking but couldn’t see anything …then out of no where high up in the sky a beautiful tremendous formation of Canada Geese appeared! What a sight ..then they all landed on our lake …two groups of about 30-40 each. They stayed around until early evening just floating around so gracefully.
Then last night lol …moths appeared by our outside night light …at leas 15 fluttering like wild , honestly looked like they were doing the happy dance lol.

Hi Helen, Here in South Carolina, USA we have beautiful bright blue skies with puffy white clouds when the weather is nice…sure beats the dreary gray skies of Winter. When my daffodils pop up and the Japanese Magnolia opens its’ delicate blooms, I know Spring is at the door, and we have survived another Winter.

I used to have a cherished garden and an old retriever called Tess. With Tess by my side I planted some mini daffs in a big planter which houses one of my maple trees. Tess has long since gone and then arrived three very gorgeous; but mad as march hares, rescue dogs. They have completely destroyed the garden but those mini daffs come up every year (some 15 years later) as an indication that spring has arrived and they always remind me of dear old Tess.

I live in Southern California, USA, near the beach. We do not see many changes from winter to spring, but our birch tree begins bearing new leaves in the spring, and that’s when I get excited. This year, our winter was very warm — our flowers bloomed early, which is so pretty, but the birch tree has not begun bearing leaves as of 10 March. It’s not quite the same (yet), but I look forward to seeing everything, including the tree, in full bloom soon! “Happy Spring”, please!

Hello Spring!

Every year, around this time, my Mum & I start looking for the first sign of Spring on our daily walk. For us, it’s the appearance of the North American Robin here in Ontario, Canada and we have managed to see it together for the last 50 years! My Mum will be 81 this year and I’m so lucky to still be able to go for walks with her and celebrate the beginning of our favourite season!

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Spring!

Hello Spring is my favourite, because I have come to realise a little habit I have spotted from my pair of friendly robins. Most days one will feed from my hand for over half of the year, I presume it is the male as when spring arrives and they start courting not only does he eat a piece, then the process involves my brave little male robin collecting food from my hand taking a tasty morsel to his mate who sits a few feet away waiting to be fed. I have noticed the same ritual taking place in spring for the last few years and although I’m sure he feeds her as well as his young later on, she just sits there expecting to be waited on prior to them nesting and raising a brood together. I commented just a few weeks ago to a relative that Spring was on the way because Mr Robin was feeding Mrs Robin again.

My favourite signs of Spring are: The nodding heads of the tet-e-tet daffodils, they are sunshine on a green stem 🙂
The catkins bobbing in gentle breezes and all the other buds just waiting to explode.
The Sweet Almond Tree with its soft pink blossom and stamen looking like candy tufts.
The chickens emerging from their hiding places, with tiny little bundles of cheeping, fluff running after them.
Above all, what I love about Spring is the feeling of renewed hope which is evident all around me 🙂

My favourite signs of Spring are the wild primroses, violets and bluebells, they take me straight back to walking in the beautiful Hampshire woods with my very dearly loved grandmother, over 50 years ago. One day before too long I hope so much to have little grandchildren to take there myself. I can’t see Nanna any more, but I know she’s there, waiting for us!
A very special treat this year is being back in the countryside at last, in my dear little bungalow, and listening to the glorious singing of the birds. I shall be 60 in August, and have never enjoyed it so much!
I would love either of the hoops, of course, but especially “Happy Easter”, which I would share with my mother, with the Simnel Cake I will make for her, and with lots of happy memories of dear Nanna. XX
