Dream it …. do it! Be part of the Bustle & Sew Magazine

Goodness me, so much has been happening over the last few weeks that I feel as though my feet haven’t touched the ground!  I’m hoping to have some exciting news to share before long, but until then I’ve been keeping (very) busy here at Bustle & Sew HQ.  I finished making my Mr Toad pattern for the May Magazine …..

Here he is making himself useful while sitting on my table waiting for his pattern to be written up.  He was actually one of the hardest patterns ever to get right.  His head and body are formed from three pieces of felt – and I had to incorporate the horizontal bend in his neck together with the bulge in his front to give him a nice fat rounded belly.  I also took a long time over his eyes, each of which are formed from two elongated semi-circles as I didn’t want to stick just little round spheres on top of his head as that’s not how toads look here in Devon anyway!  But he’s actually very easy to stitch together and I had the thought that if I put some green fabric in a hoop then he would look as though he was sitting on a lily pad perhaps?  Meanwhile he and Mr Badger are getting to know one another ….

Just Ratty and Mole to come now from my Wind in the Willows series and hopefully they should be much easier from a designer’s point of view anyway!  Of course the patterns are just one part (albeit a very important one) of the Bustle & Sew Magazine.   Every month we love to feature work from other people in our “Look! A Lovely Idea” pages …

Where we include a beautiful picture and a link back to the contributor’s website to access the download.  We also have “Meet the Maker” pages where we chat to owners of creative small businesses, again with links back to their site and shop, together with mentioning them in our newsletter and social media …..

And now we’ve just introduced a new series featuring the inspiring stories of creative entrepreneurs who took the leap from employment into owning and running their own businesses …..

And now we’re on the look out for new talent to feature in the Bustle & Sew Magazine.  If you feel you  fit into any of these categories and you’d like to be part of Bustle & Sew over the coming months then please do contact us on [email protected] – we’d love to hear from you!
