Wherever does the time go? I can hardly believe that we’re already at the end of the first week of January. This morning I (reluctantly) took down our Christmas decorations, being particularly sorry to say farewell to the tree which this year I thought was a particularly nice one from our local Christmas tree farm. But we’re past the shortest day now, the mornings are ever so slightly lighter, and out in the garden life is stirring.
I spent a couple of hours yesterday in the kitchen garden and was delighted to see that the snowdrops I saved from being buried beneath our shepherd’s huts’ patios, which we laid this summer, are beginning to thrust through the soil, though they are a long way from being in bloom just yet, unlike those in the image above. Both the pictures above are patterns from the current issue of the Bustle & Sew Magazine…
If you’re a subscriber then you should already have received your copy of this edition, and if you haven’t then please do let me know.
Thinking of the magazine brings to mind a couple of magazine-related things…. firstly the Big Back Issue Sale which we held over the New Year period. It was a popular event, though I did hear from some people after it had ended, that they’d missed my emails and hadn’t been able to grab a bargain.
And secondly – I have now been able to finish a new Bustle & Sew publication – “A Stitcher’s Alphabet”….
Bringing together all the instalments published over 12 months in the magazine, as well as lots of new content – think feathers, reindeer and mother of pearl; Elizabeth Tudor and embroidery paste; outline embroidery, padded stitches, tammy cloth and much more besides – over 80 full-coloured pages of interesting, eccentric and sometimes even unbelievable fabric, thread and stitching facts.
