A creative few days

Creativity is a funny sort of thing.  Earlier this year, before I moved, I was beginning to worry that I was running out of ideas.  Everything seemed a bit – I don’t know – sort of flat and my creative mojo was definitely in danger of moving out before I did.  Then during the couple of weeks of intense activity around moving date I hardly touched a needle and thread at all, instead spending my time up a stepladder redecorating my new home.  But now I’m feeling much more settled, and the projects have been flying out of my workroom this month!

I really enjoyed re-working Charlie the Patchwork elephant for the October magazine, and for the moment at least he’s found a temporary new home in the conservatory encouraging me while I stitch ….

My favourite rabbit picture that used to hang in the kitchen at Coombe Leigh has found a new home in my workroom where it’s currently being used to hang another October magazine project ….

And there’s a very funky-looking penguin sitting on the table next to me as I type.  Rosie isn’t too sure about the bandanna, but my personal view is that penguins need summer attire as well as winter scarves ….!

And I’ve even put together another Christmas project for the next issue …

… I think my mojo has returned!

There are two black furry creatures in this house who are not too happy about this – preferring me to spend my time walking or playing with them rather than sewing or writing up patterns!  We have however, discovered some lovely walks around the village and a few days ago I took them up the old Roman road, the Fosse Way, that runs in a straight line a couple of hundred yards to the east of my home ….

And on the way back we discovered a lovely cool stream where they could bathe their hot tired paws  …

So I don’t think they’re at all neglected and take absolutely no notice at all when they complain about my sewing!

All the patterns above, and much more besides, will be in the October Bustle & Sew Magazine.  If you’re not a subscriber and would like to learn more then please do click here.  We’ve a great offer at the moment, offering 3 issues for the price of just one to all new subscribers – bargain!

I totally enjoy reading your newsletters! You have been creating some spectacular and fun projects! Good for you! I wish that I was able to purchase your magazine, but at this time money is extremely tight. Maybe someone will get it for me for Christmas. Thank you though for sharing all that you do and inspiring me to step out of my comfort zone and try some new techniques! Have a wonderful creative day!

I’m so looking forward to the October Issue with all the lovely new projects! I must add that I hadn’t noticed a lack of mojo from Bustle and Sew, but considering your move and stress regarding Daisy’s health, it’s hardly surprising if you felt a bit out of sync….
