Meet the Maker: Becca Hall Illustration

In the May issue of Bustle & Sew Magazine we were delighted to feature an interview with Becca from Becca Hall Illustration. Becca is a freelance illustrator who lives in the Lake District with her two Border Terriers. Inspired by the beautiful Lakes she loves to draw and paint by hand although more recently has started colouring digitally too.

We asked Becca to tell us a little bit about her creative background. She told us;

“I have ALWAYS been into drawing. Cliche I know but its true. As soon as I found out about the illustration courses at Uni, I knew that’s what I would do. I studied illustration with animation at Manchester School of Art, where I worked really hard to enable me to get a good start on what I wanted as a career.”

We also asked Becca what the best thing about running her own business is. She said…

“I could say, ‘being able to work when I want’ which don’t get me wrong, is GREAT! Being able to take endless Holiday days has its bonuses (unless you have so much to do that you feel guilty for taking any time off, which happens to me a lot!) But for me, I enjoy having the control. Although it can be stressful having to juggle everything by myself, I also enjoy it, as I know where everything is up to and what needs doing. When something great happens, it’s because of me, which is really rewarding.”

Be sure to pop over to Becca’s Etsy website and have a look at her gorgeous work. You can also find her on Instagram and Facebook too – do say hello!
