Meet the Maker: Baobap Handmade

Isn’t Baobap a wonderful name!  I just love it – nearly as much as the wonderful embroidered works created by the first of November’s “Meet the Makers,” Irem Yazici who lives in Turkey and creates gorgeous unique pieces of embroidery which she sells in her online shop.

Irem told us she chose the name “Baobap” as she loves the way the Baobap tree looks.  It’s round and funny, glorious and charming as is its name when read aloud!  Irem is currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in advertising, and between lectures can be found with needle and thread to produce jewellery, wall hangings, magnets … you name it, she’s probably embroidered on it, and yes, those really are soda bottle lids above!

And I love this embroidered collar, just the thing to dress a plain neckline!  To see more of Irem’s work please do pop over to her Etsy Shop and keep up to date with all her news and photos over on her Facebook Page.

Thanks so much for being a part of the November issue Irem xx
