It’s been so lovely since Rosie joined Bustle & Sew – we’ve both always enjoyed creating, and have very similar tastes in a lot of things. So I was not entirely surprised – though extremely delighted – to receive the most exquisite little felted rabbit hoop as a gift from her this Christmas – created by one of our super-talented “Meet the Makers”, Dani Ives of Good Natured. Dani lives in Missouri with her
husband, two dogs, three cats and six chickens. In 2011 she discovered needle felting and told us she is inspired every day by the animals she works with in her zoo job.
Although she only discovered wool felting very recently, Dani revealed that she’s always been a creative type. “I’ve been drawing and doodling since childhood, and I’ve always loved making things. There is something very pure and satisfying about creating things with your own hands.”
I’ve been wanting to try needle felting for myself for quite some time now, and hope one day I’ll be able to get around to it, but I don’t think I could ever aspire to create such wonderful, lifelike creatures as Dani – including my little rabbit hoop of course, who has pride of place among my embroidered hoops on my workroom wall ….
Wasn’t I lucky this Christmas! If you’d like to see more of Dani’s amazing work, and keep up to date with her new challenge for 2015, then do head over to her blog, or Facebook page. She also has a wonderful feed over on Instagram.
I loved your bunny so much, I ordered one for me – perfectly put, they are very lifelike indeed. I’m sure I’ll be back for more! Yes, thank you, Rosey!
She does amazing work: I enjoyed reading about her in the newsletter. So inspiring that she has only done needle felting for such a short time!
