Meet the Maker: Louise Brainwood

Before I introduce you to our next contributor to the July issue of the Bustle & Sew Magazine I’d like to thank every one who left comments on my last post about Daisy’s good news.  I am so touched by your concern and grateful to have such lovely caring readers – thank you all so much.

Louise Brainwood is a textile designer based in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire who designs all her own fabrics and uses them to create items for the home such as cushions and lampshades.  I can tell you with confidence that her lampshades are totally lovely as I couldn’t resist acquiring one for my new living room!

Louise describes her style as Contemporary Scandinavian, fresh colours and crisp lines with motifs inspired by nature.  She tells us she gains her inspiration from the natural world around her, using a palette inspired by nature, though she also chooses colours to create the right mood or match the season.  She loves to holiday on the coast, and in particular St Ives in Cornwall, finding the Cornish countryside and coastline hugely inspirational, firing her up to create new designs.   I love Louise’s crisp clean palette and only wish she offered her fabrics as well as completed items – I’d love to sew with them….

You can find Louise Brainwood on Etsy or keep up to date with all her news and goings-on over on her Facebook page.

Thanks for being part of this month’s magazine Louise.

Loved the article about Louise and she makes some fabulous items. Just love those fabrics too. This part of the magazine – Meet the Maker – is a very interesting part. Opens ones eyes to how many talented people there are out there! 🙂
