Quilted Laundry Bag is finished!

Quilted Laundry Bag

My laundry bag for this month’s Bustle & Sew Magazine is finished – and I must say, I am rather proud of it!  Once again I headed out into the garden to take photographs, and I am pleased to report that this time my primroses appear to be undisturbed – well done Ben!

But back to the laundry bag … it’s suspended on a coat-hanger so it keeps its shape and measures 16″ x 24″ so is the perfect size for a child or baby’s room – or even to keep your delicate items sorted separately (those my Grandma would have referred to as “smalls!”).

The back has an inverted pleat to increase capacity whilst keeping the front looking nice (sorry about the blurry picture but a rather chilly breeze was blowing and it caught the bag at just the wrong moment).  And most cleverly of all …

Quilted Laundry Bag InteriorAn easily removeable cotton liner that hangs by two tapes from the coat hanger.  So it’s really easy to lift out the contents – no need to rummage around at the bottom of the bag – and no creating a trail of dropped socks en route to the washing machine.  Now all I have to do is write up the pattern and take some better photographs.  Hopefully the sun will come out again soon!

So cute! I see it’s time for me to make a new clothespin bag–this will make the task of hanging out the clothes (once decent weather arrives), almost fun!!!

This looks exactly the sort of thing I need to make to keep my silk scarves in.

I love it! I had a thought when I saw it, it made me think of a diaper storage bag that you hang near/on the changing table! I think that would be a great way to do some simple patchwork and a touch of embroidery on the upper front piece! Great work, love it!

Gorgeous bag. I knew someone who called her smalls, flimsies and there was nothing flimsy about her knickers. It’s bit of a family joke now when we do our washing we say just hanging out my flimsies.
