And just like that .. it’s May

And just like that it’s May!  Although I must admit it certainly doesn’t feel much like May outside – the sunshine through my workroom window feels lovely and warm, but there is a cold northerly wind blowing and yesterday a storm blew through bringing wind and rain, but this morning rainbows too!  We are still experiencing night time frosts, April was exceptionally cold and frosty, so my baby plants are still nice and snug in the cold frame, though I’m hoping to start planting them out this week.

I’ve always loved this time of year – it seems so full of promise, the whole summer stretching ahead filled with fun and frivolity, and time spent with family and friends.  Flowers in the garden, country walks and trips to the beach to enjoy as well!

This year is super-special for our family as we will be catching up on two postponed festivities – my little granddaughter Florence’s christening, and also our wedding party.  We managed to make our vows last year between lockdowns, but Covid restrictions meant our guest list was limited to just our children and grandchildren (the most important people to us both) so this summer we’re back at St Bartholomew’s for a blessing, and to celebrate our big day with all our families and friends.  I think I will once again find myself making bunting to decorate our marquee – though possibly not as much as for Rosie’s wedding (an amazing SEVEN years ago now!).

This month’s magazine reflects the changing seasons too, with articles on the spring garden (bees, flowers and printables too), recipes, and our first meet the maker feature for some time as we chat to the very talented Amanda Barnes, textile artist.

I hope you like the patterns too, I particularly enjoyed the tote bag (perfect for taking shopping now everywhere is opening up again) and the True Colours Shining hoop with its little multi-coloured zebra.

The magazine was published last week so if you’re a subscriber you should have received yours already.  If you’re not a subscriber and would like to learn more then please just CLICK HERE to visit our magazine page or you can purchase individual issues here.
