I’ve been a bit quiet lately as I have come down with a nasty dose of some sort of virus (not covid thank goodness). For the last few days I have been coughing and sneezing quite a lot as well as feeling really rather under the weather. Today is the first day for a week that I’ve been feeling a bit more like my usual self – and hopefully by Christmas I will be fully recovered! It’s our village carol service tonight and I’m determined to go. I don’t think I’ll be singing as my voice is all croaky, but it will be lovely to be out and about again.
I have been busy with my needle though, all snuggled up on the sofa enjoying the Christmas tree lights and working on new projects for the January Magazine (you can see a couple of them above).
Magazine readers will be aware that over the last year the Bustle & Sew Magazine has included a new series entitled “The Stitcher’s Alphabet” that will come to an end in the January edition. I’ve really enjoyed putting the Stitcher’s Alphabet together – with topics as diverse as alpacas, Mary Queen of Scots, samplers, hand coolers and much more besides. In fact, I can’t bear to give up my research into all these fascinating and unlikely topics completely, so I’ve decided to collect the complete series together into a book – and add quite a lot more topics for each letter as well. I had hoped to finish this before Christmas, but I’m afraid that, due to the flu, this isn’t now going to happen so please watch out for its publication early next year.
Something else that will be coming along in the near future is our traditional Big Back Issue Sale! We only hold this sale once a year when we reduce the price of all back issues of the Bustle & Sew Magazine to a very silly price. (we can’t do this any more often as our accountants get quite annoyed with us!) I’m still finalising the details, but can confirm that the sale will, as usual, take place for a couple of days between Christmas and the New Year. I will be sure to let you know when it begins!
Thank you Helen for all the great magazines every month and your newsletters throughout the year. I hope you will feel better soon and wish you and all your loved ones a Very Safe and Happy Christmas and Best Wishes for the New Year in 2023.

Thanks Jan, and a very merry Christmas to you too x
