Spring blooms

When I was in Corfu last week I was struck by how green and lush the countryside was.  I think we’re all more used to visiting the Mediterranean in the summer months, by which time the wildflowers are finished – baked to a crisp by the hot summer sunshine.  We spent the first few days of our holiday in Corfu Old Town – the most beautiful city – this photo was taken as we enjoyed our breakfast – Greek pastries and milky coffee sitting outside a tiny bakery in the heart of town….

Spot the wisteria!  Then, on our last day we hired a car and travelled across the island – at the moment it’s so green and there are flowers everywhere.  We travelled up to the highest viewpoint to look out across the countryside….

It’s called the Kaiser’s Chair and you can see right across the island. Corfu is famous for its tall elegant Cypress trees scattered around the landscape. The Greeks know them as “Dachtila tou Theo” which literally means the Finger of God.  As well as cypresses there were an abundance of wildflowers, some which I knew and others less familiar….

Of course the wildflowers are coming into bloom at home as well, and there are dandelions blooming along the hedgerows.  Which somehow seems to make it appropriate to renew our listing for dandelion kits now I’m home from my holidays…

There are still only limited numbers available as we’re busy working on our bumper centenary magazine (don’t forget to follow us on Instagram if you haven’t already done so – Rosie has some amazing giveaways lined up)
