New Pattern – and a giveaway ….

Meet Mrs Millicent Minniver and her sister Molly …. two little linen geese – one of my new patterns for this month’s magazine.  After having such fun developing and adapting my mum’s vintage patterns to create the Little Hens and Pin Cushion Mice (available on the free patterns pages of my new website – click here to view) I thought it would be fun to create my own softie pattern.  So the little geese idea was hatched (groan!)

Of course, when selling online, you need lots of photos of your product, so Millicent, Molly and I headed out into the garden for a photoshoot.  Then my canine assistant arrived …

He simply adores having his photo taken and feels he should be the entire centre of attention. But if this can’t be so, then he’s happy to offer assistance where he feels it is needed ….

Hmmmmm … helpful?  I think not.  So he was banished.  Whereupon he went into a sulk and fell asleep.  Millicent and Molly went to investigate this curious animal …

The cross stitches on their backs look a bit like stocking seams I think!  They were both made using the same templates (apart from the beak which I changed a little), but as I’ve positioned legs and wings slightly differently they look very individual.  Then my canine “helper” woke up ….

…. and inspired this giveaway!!

The giveaway prize is a kit containing everything you need to make your very own little vintage linen goose (except for the stuffing and two pebbles to weight the base).  To enter –  please leave a comment – and if you’d like – just for fun – include a caption for the photo above!!

The Little Geese Softies pattern is now available on my website, and will be included in this month’s Bustle & Sew magazine – out on Thursday.   This giveaway will close at midnight on Thursday 26 May BST when a winner will be chosen by random selection. And yes, I will post overseas.  Good luck everyone!!

I love these geese! And I just made the pincushion mice. One for me and one for a friend. Which by the way, her cat fell in love with! And I am working on the Afternoon Nap Dormouse. I think your beautiful pup is thinking…wait! I'm supposed to do the herding, not the other way around!

The geese seem to be saying "Don't worry, it's just a stuffed doll!" and then "OOOOOOOoooo Noooooo! He's alive!!"

Those geese have so much personality, they seem as alive as your Newfy friend!
