Birthday Giveaway: Cupcake Bunting

This month we’re celebrating the 4th birthday of the Bustle & Sew Magazine.  Yes, it’s now FOUR whole years old and has come such a long way since those early issues, thanks to all our wonderful readers who receive the magazine every month.  I know we still have some super-lovely subscribers who’ve been with us since the first issue and to them a very BIG THANK YOU indeed – we couldn’t have come this far with out all of you!

Meanwhile, in all our opinions and especially those of Daisy & Ben, cake is an essential part of any celebrations.  Do you remember Ben’s fixation on the cake at Daisy’s pawty? And of course if there’s ANY chance of snaffling a morsel of cake then the pesky pair are always lined up hopefully ….

But, as far as I am aware, nobody has yet discovered a way to squish cake into the phone line and send it whizzing through the internet!  So as I can’t send you a piece of our birthday cake I thought that I would celebrate instead by holding a giveaway – for the Cupcake Bunting in the current issue of the magazine.

To be in with a chance to win this calorie-free bunting, then all you need to do is leave a comment below telling us (just for fun) what is your favourite kind of cake!  The winner will be chosen by random selection and the competition will close at midnight (GMT) on Tuesday 17 February.  I will post the bunting anywhere in the world.

Good luck everyone!

Thank you to all those who entered.  This giveaway is now closed.

A very happy birthday Bustle and Sew 🙂 My most favourite of cakes is Carrot cake followed by Lemon Drizzle!
I have been trawling through past blog posts to find out which magazine your sewing cottage appeared in and where do you purchase it from please?

How exciting! Happy Birthday! It’s hard to believe that it’s been four fun-filled years already. I’m looking forward to many issues to come!
My favorite cake has to be chocolate with peanut butter frosting, but only because I’ve never tried Victoria Sponge.
Congratulations!
XXX Linda

I think when it boils right down to it, it has to be chocolate. Just plain chocolate with chocolate butter icing.
Happy Birthday!

These are lovely! I would so love to win your beautiful bunting. My favourite cake is osawacake, which is a healthy alternative to regular cake! It is made from rice, raisins and dried fruit and sweetened with fruit juice.

Reply

My favorite is a kind of fruitcake (not the usual sort with candied fruit made at Xmas) that my grandmother used to make. Its dark with rich spices and real dried fruits in it; has a sugar/butter icing and halved walnuts on top. YUM.

🙂 Linda

Reply

Tea loaf made with dried fruit soaked in tea overnight and served with butter. I used to make one every week for the children’s packed lunches. As healthy as cake can get but delicious.

My favourite cake is one that you can’t buy in a shop. It is the BEST chocolate cake I’ve had since I was a little girl. My mum used to bake it for me filled with jam and mock cream. I now bake it for my children, filling it with jam and vanilla bean butter cream (and I actually made one yesterday!)

Reply

Happy Birthday Bustle & Sew! I have every issue you have published and I love every last one! You are so creative Helen and an inspiration to us all. If I were to through you a party I would definitely have to serve my favorite of all time… Tuxedo Truffle Cake a lip smack’in creamy delight of marble cake with alternating layers of chocolate and vanilla mousse and topped with chocolate ganache! Of course it goes without saying I would also serve tea in my best china with steamed milk. (For party goers that like it white.) 🙂

Reply

Happy Birthday and here’s to many more! My fav cake is Christmas cake, a rich dark, fruit filled slice topped with marzipan and icing. It’s a happy cake as all the family are together at that time of year. Best eaten with a cup of tea in front of a roaring fire, bliss.

Reply

I always have some gluten free lemon polenta cake ready cut into slices in the freezer for when the need arises. Have you thought of including an occasional gluten free recipe in the magazine? I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d enjoy it.

Reply

I’m a chocolate eclair kind of girl! Love the calorie free cake bunting – it’s ideal. Happy
Birthday.

Reply

Wow, 4 years, well done!
My current favourite cake is a leomon meringue chocolate cake where the chocolate cake replace the pie pastry from lemon meringue pie, the cake is filled with lemon curd and then topped with meringue icing. 🙂

Reply

My favorite cake is the cake my mom makes me every year for my birthday (even though I’m 40)! It is applesauce spice cake with penuche frosting. Nothing better in the whole world! Sometimes, it turns out really awful, but usually it’s because her baking powder is expired or she accidentally doubled the soda in it, but I eat it with smiles. Not many women are lucky enough to have a mom that loves them so much as to bake a birthday cake for them every year, even though they are long from being a child!

Reply

Burnt almond torte is the best! I have only ever seen it at bake shops in Pittsburgh, PA.

Reply

One of my all-time favorites is Pineapple Upside Down cake. I don’t make/get it very often but I do love, love, love it. AND I recently found a recipe to make some mini-cupcake sized ones that I am going to try. My next favorite would be spice cake. Yum for both of them. I don’t get/make this one very often either…… from there I go to the ‘regular’ cakes, i.e. Coca-Cola cake; choc on choc; choc on white; etc….. but any good-moist cake with a cup of coffee or tea is good.

Happy Birthday to 4 year old ! (^^)
I never had any birthday cakes when I was younger – usually my mother just made a little strawberry tart, on top of which a big pile of whipped cream – cause I have never had many friends in my life (and at this point have none..) I’ve never had much of a birthday celebrations before I got married and they usually don’t include cakes cause I don’t much like them – I prefer tarts and cupcakes..
So my favorite “cake” is strawberry tart with whipped cream 🙂
