Don’t worry – I promise this is not going to turn into a blog about dogs – well, no more than before, anyway! But so many people have asked to see a little more of Daisy that I thought I’d post just a few more pictures. I did want to show you my quilt as you go project – I met my self-imposed deadline, and the quilt was on my bed in time for Christmas, but will save that for another time.
Yesterday I took Daisy for her first trip to the beach. I had to carry the solid little dumpling as she hasn’t had her final innoculations yet, so mustn’t come into contact with other dogs.
And here we are! Sorry I look so serious, but it’s hard trying to control a wriggling puppy, keep an eye on an over-excited big brother and hold my phone in the right place all at the same time. So I simply forgot to smile. But I think the cuteness of Daisy more than compensates!
She was fascinated by her big brother’s antics – and in turn he jumped and twirled, splashed and ran – a proper show-off!
And then he demonstrated his amazing strength and daring by bringing us a selection of the largest stones from the bed of the stream!
On returning home satisfied that life with Daisy would still include all his favourite things, Ben began to make friends …..
But, oh dear, being a Big Brother is just sooooo tiring!
But fun too Ben … and I’ve been so busy playing with Daisy that I’m getting all behind on other stuff – such as closing my Christmas shop. So I thought before I remove it tomorrow, I’d have a 24 hour flash sale on the whole of Bustle & Sew! Just enter the code FLASH at checkout to receive an amazing 40% off everything in my store (except magazine subscriptions).
Yes, that’s 40% discount on everything for the next 24 hours only when you enter the code “FLASH” at checkout!!

With apologies to Dean Martin ……
When the weather outside is frightful (or even when it’s not!)
On the beach is quite delightful
It’s the only place to go ……
Let it snow…..
Let it snow …..
WISH IT WOULD SNOW!!
Hmmm… not too sure about the snow, Ben, though I know you love it and it’s much more fun than rain. But whatever the weather, it’s snug and cosy indoors now our wood burning stove is installed …..
Sorry about the poor quality of the photo – the light is dreadful as it’s raining again here today. But the stove is sooooo warm – I foresee a winter of contented stitching and toe-toasting in front of its golden glow. We’ll be decorating after Christmas, but simply no time left to splash paint around beforehand!
Did you spot my printable Christmas bunting in the corner of the photo cheering up that corner of the room? It’s a great last minute addition to your decorations if you’ve any gaps to fill. And as part of my season of giveaways, I’ve reduced it by a third to the bargain price of just $3.00 for the downloadable pdf file containing 16 flags all based on vintage patterns. Just print, cut and hang – a totally stress-free addition to your Christmas decorations! If you’d like it then just CLICK HERE to view details and purchase from my Christmas shop.

I am very pleased and proud to announce that the first small selection of “SewFlapdoodle” patterns have arrived here on the website. I think I mentioned before that Jacqui is a very talented illustrator, and the Flapdoodle bird is her logo – here pictured sitting on a reel of thread ready to sew – hence “SewFlapdoodle”.

Jacqui used to live next-door, but a couple of years ago moved just a few miles down the road, where she and her carpenter husband Clive, settled in a new home – which Clive is now busy altering (again!) They share their home with their son and daughter, when they are not away studying and Pip, their 18 month old black and white cat who loves to boss Lionel (who you’ve met already) around. Jacqui studied illustration at art school then went on to work for various London design studios before escaping to the sea and countryside of Devon. She loves to draw, especially the animals and children she sees around her and her designs often feature her children and their friends when they were younger and Pip and Lionel (oh and also Lionel’s best friend Ben). That’s Jacqui above !!

I’ve listed four SewFlapdoodle patterns to begin with – they’re all really simple to stitch – three just use back stitch – and they’re great for newbies (I include hints on making your back stitch the best it can be), or for a quick one-evening project if you’re more experienced. They look great framed in a hoop – or you could mount them in a card as a gift for a special (and lucky!) person.

Just CLICK HERE to find all the SewFlapdoodle patterns – including Ben and Lionel – and I’ll be adding more over the coming weeks.
