Sewn by Rachael and a trip to Stourhead

One of the parts of the magazine I love the most is seeking out talented creators to feature in our “Meet the Maker” and “Dream it, Do it” pages.  This month I was delighted to discover Rachael Baralos.  Sewn by Rachael  is her small business, where she creates free machine embroidered pieces inspired by the natural world around her home in Caerphilly, Wales, relationships between people and their families  and her weakness (!) for the beauty of hot air balloons….

Rachael’s achievements are even more impressive when you learn that she combined setting up her own business with looking after two lively toddlers – goodness knows how she does it – I know I am worn out after just a day or two spent with my adorable little grandson!  Please do pop over to Rachael’s website and/or Facebook page to say hello – I’m sure she’d love to meet you there.

And, thinking of happy times spent with Freddie and Rosie – we had a wonderful day out courtesy of the National Trust earlier this week when we visited Stourhead Gardens ….

Absolutely stunning!  If ever there was a place with the wow factor then this is definitely it!!  I would recommend a visit – and it’s a super place for a picnic too …Image9

Spot the Bustle & Sew Great British Picnic Blanket – now in, I think, it’s third year and still doing sterling service! And Freddie is growing so fast – he can sit up all by himself now – and will soon be wanting a picnic blanket all of his very own – I’d better start stitching I think! Meawhile, watch out for the preview of next week’s August magazine as well as news of a very special offer coming tomorrow!
