And the winner is ….

by Helen on February 7, 2014

Before announcing the winner of my Valentine Bunnies giveaway, I’d like to thank everybody who entered.  The weather here has been so grey and stormy, but I’ve felt so cheerful reading all your lovely comments and dreaming of warmer days to come ….

Rather like my naughty Miss Daisy – seen here snoring gently after a morning’s play with her best friend Lionel.  I’m sorry I don’t have a prize for everyone – I so much wish I did.  But after working the random number generator I’m pleased to announce the winner is comment number 3 – that’s Kathleen Robertson.  Well done Kathleen and as soon as you send me your postal details your prize will be on its way to you!  There’s still a chance to win my completed Valentine Bunnies stitchery over on my Facebook page though …..

Just CLICK HERE to pop across and enter.

And finally a quick peek at another project coming in the March issue of the Bustle & Sew Magazine

Hope you like it!

Valentine Bunnies Giveaway

by Helen on February 1, 2014

Phew … the February issue of the Bustle & Sew Magazine has been now sent out to everyone (if you are a subscriber and haven’t seen your copy in your in-box please be sure to contact me soonest so I can make sure you receive it safely).

The description for the February issue in my store says that it  “celebrates the earliest signs of spring, with projects for Valentine’s Day and some Easter bunnies too”.  Which is completely true.  However ….  even as I was typing this, I was thinking to myself,  “Why should bunnies be limited to Easter?  What about some Valentine’s bunnies too?”  And so I have adapted the bunny template from this month’s magazine to create a giveaway for you….

A chance to win two adorable little patchwork bunnies applied to a vintage cotton panel surrounded by a sweet spring blossom garland printed ready for you to stitch, with space below the bunnies for you to stitch names or any text you choose.  The finished garland is about 6 1/2″ in diameter.  And … as well as the panel itself, I’m delighted to be able to include two cute thread bobbins generously donated by the lovely Sandy from her wonderfully named Etsy shop “Giggle Snort Society!”  Please do pop over and take a look at her selection of designs – they’re pretty and practical too!

To enter my Valentine bunny giveaway please leave a comment below and – just for fun – please tell me your favourite sign of spring!   The giveaway will close at 12 midnight (GMT) on Wednesday 5th February and I’m so looking forward to reading your comments!

Out and about again!

by Helen on January 19, 2014

YIPPEEEE!!  Stitches out – and now I am officially mobile again.  My knee still feels a bit stiff and sore, but so much better than it was.  I think any remaining tenderness is due to the operation and will disappear in time – as long as that naughty Miss Daisy doesn’t knock me over again, or I take a tumble on some of the incredibly slippery mud we seem to specialise in at this time of year.  I’ve bought myself a nice walking pole to help in the mud and have threatened her ladyship that if she’s bad I’ll poke her with the pointed end – not that she cares – not one little bit!  (she knows I’d never really do such a thing)

Our first walk together for nearly two weeks was around the woods, and during the first 10 minutes Daisy managed to (1) fall in the stream (2) become helplessly entangled in brambles and (3) cover herself and their friends’ mum in mud …

Teddy is a labrador who lurves Daisy (although he has been neutered) but Daisy only wants to play.  They’re both about the same age and there’s not too much difference in size (Daisy is a small newfie), so they have huge fun romping around while Ben and Rosie (the little springer spaniel) are a bit older and much more dignified!  At last the rain has stopped and the skies were blue with just a few puffy clouds …

And I was delighted to see the hazel catkins lining the path along the sides of the woods….

The days are slowly but steadily growing a little longer now – and whilst it’s still winter, there’s a definite feeling that spring is not too far around the corner – both inside and out!!  The baby daffodils on my table are just coming into bloom (though the ones outside are just fat green spikes) ..

And love is in the air … the jackdaw family have returned and are busy laying claim to the nesting holes in the back of my house.  The February issue of the Bustle & Sew e-Magazine has a springlike feel too.  The pattern for the lovebirds (above) is included – a lovely make for Valentine’s day – as are these bunnies …..

They’re part of my new series of articles “Making Money Making” – some help and advice for those wishing to make to sell over the coming months as the craft fair season gets underway again.  These bunnies would be a lovely easy make for any Easter Fairs – and I’ve some ideas for different things you can do with the basic bunny shape.  All this and much more will be in the February 2014 issue of the Bustle & Sew e-Magazine published on Thursday 30th.  If you’d like to learn more, then please just CLICK HERE.
